They want hosts who make money for QVC. Doesn't matter what their age is. Do your job or go.

They don't need any hosts.

The ones that have left this year seemed on the younger side unless I'm missing someone

Personnel actions are highly confidential so we never know what transpired behind the scenes but you can bet QVC has its behind covered.  It usually equates to a performance issue, as in low sales which is easy to defend.  I do find it hard to believe a certain newer host has high sales, however.  Maybe they consider her to still be a trainee.  Or maybe she's related to somebody important.

Actually you are right , after i posted , i thought a little about it , and of course i couldn't delete. They have more over 40 and beyond hosts than younger ones. Just proves you should think  before you post. And to the person that said get rid hosts , i don't agree , they keep everything moving along with updates ,ect. And i don't watch QVC on a reg basis anymore , just my personal change in viewing.

I agree.  Nancy and Antonella are their 50s.  The others who were let go were 30 and 40 somethings.

I admit I thought about age discrimination when I read about Nancy Hornback leaving, right after Antonella's departure.   Several of the younger hosts left qvc as well, though.

I don't think anyone here has the statistics on each host at qvc regarding their sales.  Even armed with that information, termination of employees can cover a myriad of reasons.

I think I'm most surprised at who has survived the layoffs so far.

Re: Ageism in full force at QVC ?

I don't feel it. Half of the hosts are the tenured ones, over 50 and apparently seem to be still some of the hardest working, top selling hosts. Again...I'm only watching and making my own analysis here, not saying I "know" anything.

But David, Janes Tracy and Browne, Rick, Mary Beth, Pat, Leah, Dan Hughes, Carolyn...doesn't feel to me they are in jeopardy. They still do great jobs, are professional, and seem to be selling well with how much they are used for key shows, as well as having their own shows.

QVC seems to have young, middle and mature ages spread out pretty well, to appeal to a variety of demographics of viewers, in my opinion.
