I think mostly the product is what sells me not the host.  I notice they all refer to every other host and vendor as "my friend."  I'm sure some of the long time vendors have become friends with the hosts, but I doubt they are all friends on their off time.  I think they are encouraged to promote that as part of their appeal to make sales.   When my spouse and I worked, the majority of employees were not friends outside the business hours.  Maybe QVC is different.

Well, it may be fake or over the top, but adoration keeps the program humming along. I have seen a few shows when the vendor got irritated with the host and shushed them or told them to get back to the product and quit shopping/going off topic. Even though it was warranted, the show became icy and very awkward.

@SunValley- i've never heard of a vendor getting irritated with the host.  You said you've seen this a few times?

Oh yes. Bob Mackie has scolded a few hosts; he actually told former host Jacque G to be quiet. And I’ve seen a vendor get after Shawn for getting way off topic and another was really irked because of her shopping instead of selling. Years ago Mary Beth had to ask Gary of Boyd’s Bears to tone down his slightly off-color humor. She was not having it! Over the 27 years I have seen other host/vendor pairings that just didn’t mesh, and the chill was in the air. It happens.

@tundracat  I noticed it a couple of nights ago when the host was presenting a new line which she had selected the colors and done the artwork on. The host did seem to adore the guest a little too much. While watching the video, I felt it was probably part of the hosts' goals set at QVC and she (the host) was "putting her best foot forward" in order to get her raise! It was the only show I have ever seen that host behave in a professional manner, using excellent English, correct sentence structure, and stand with nice posture! She was actually enjoyable to watch. She was professional for the entire hour and enjoyed selling all products (most from the same guest). It was an interesting perspective on what a host is selling and who they are working with and showiing off their own input in the product and packaging. The host definately loved being in the spotlight and wanted the KUDOS even though the product was the brainchild of the guest! Very strange in so many ways. But, yes, that host CAN behave when she wants/has to! The rest of the stuff is an act or gimmick. And I've never bought into her juvenile tactics. SMH

ETA:  On hindsight, Leah would have been the perfect host to work with the guest on the product for colors and design IMO. I think the product would have sold much better and appealed to a wider age group.

This thread reminds me of a former poster, @adoreqvc.  I enjoyed her posts.

@Annabellethecat66

The Willard!    (been inside & it's beautiful).

Diamond bracelet?  Just wow.

He adored you!    Sigh

I know this isn't what the thread is about, but I wanted to say I enjoyed reading your note.  And, I know your husband is gone, but what a beautiful memory this must be!

I can't imagine any host adoring anyone, that is an extremely personal emotion, to iclude worship..  They may admire them, be in awe of them.   QVC guests are not in the realm of adore.  I adore my pets, family.
