Just when you think they can't do any thing more stupid, here it is. Carolyn is the absolute best host, almost, ever. One more reason to never tune in. I would get rid of atleast 6 others.

Curious how QVC arrived at the decision they did. I'm very surprised.

@wifey2qt You obviously are not familiar with massive lay offs. When Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation laid off 1500 employees several years ago, a security guard showed up at your desk, WHILE you were working and handed you a box. You gathered your things and were escorted out. Grown men were crying. No warning, nothing. Ruined a lot of peoples lives. Many people had moved to Savannah for the opportunity to work for them, bought homes, established their lives in schools and churches and in a blink it was gone.
Corporations can be heartless and ruthless. At least QVC didn't stop Carolyn in the middle of the two hour show. They were getting the last drop of work out of her that they could.

I'm curious. Dan had a heart attack a while back & Carolyn had breast cancer that I believe resulted in her having a mastectomy. She mentioned an insert you could buy for one of the bathing suits on D&C Tuesday for women like her on the last show I saw her on.
I'm wondering if they had health insurance through QVC or another source? Never know. hmmmmm...........
@bestday Yes, they had health insurance at QVC and will be able to continue it through Cobra, although at greater expense. I don't know how old Carolyn and Dan are but, if 65, they could be on Medicare.

I completely agree. Why let Carolyn and Dan go when they have many years with QVC and loyal viewers and loyalty to QVC? They will be missed. Why not let newer hires go or even better Shawn, Alberti or Jennifer all of whom can be quite annoying? Their selling style is over the top and I don't believe in the products they present.

I will miss Carolyn on the Tuesday morning D&C show. There are only three reasons I still tune in to QVC; D&C on Tuesday, and Barefoot Dreams and JAI, depending on the hosts.
I wish Carolyn the best. I know she will find something else worthy of her talents. She is awesome. Good luck Carolyn, you will be missed.

This is the first I've heard of this. Unbelievable. I mean seriously. I know from personal experience that large corporations have no qualms firing/laying off personel with no warning and no remorse. I understand that firings or laying off people don't usually come with remorse from management. But if they think that letting two of their better hosts go (and believe me I am not on board with roughly 80% of those they've recently hired) will up their sales and revenue they are mistaken. I believe that they are trying to appeal to the younger viewers by getting rid of their older hosts (no matter how good they are).
I fervently believe that those "running" QVC do not have a firm grip on how to run a company. And have no idea what the buying public (young AND old) wants to view, what's irritating to them (so they won't turn the channel) and how to appeal to everyone at once. They've mistaken how to appeal to people.... yelling, moving around like a crazy person isn't doing it nor will it. And they think they are appealing to the younger viewers by ignoring the high percentage of older, original buyers who can't stand that stuff.
Shopping channels have run their course and unfortunately QVC is shooting itself in the foot by firing your better (albiet older) hosts and will do you no favors and may actually hurry up the dying process.....

In my opinion, what the bigwigs at QVC don't seem to understand is that the channel spent decades creating a business model of trying to make the viewers feel like the hosts are the viewer's friends. People feel like they invited the hosts into their homes, they know personal things about them, they see the same faces all the time. It's a ploy to separate viewers from their money (this post will probably be taken down, I know).
So since viewers feel a connection to the hosts, it certainly would make more financial sense at the bigwig level to let any hosts go gradually, have some fanfare, make the viewers feel like they are a part of it. Laying off hosts so abruptly seems like a not-that-well-thought-out decision. It feels rash and nonsensical, regardless of any actual facts behind the decision.
I understand why people are upset. Please let people just feel bad if they want to. They say the only people who like change are wet babies.
Again, just my two cents. This is clearly a very volatile and emotional issue for many people.

@Georgiagrama Actually I am quite familar with mass layoffs. I work for a major global corporation in HR. What you describe is not the playbook of most corporations.....don't make sweeping assumptions. Again, I highly doubt they were given this news in the middle of thier on-air shift.
