When someone hit them, the Hartford gave them 2 choices: 1. they would be dropped or 2. their premiums would double. The accident wasn't even their fault. AARP is the worst thing ever for seniors. Shows how low the Q has sunk.
AARP and The Hartford are not the same company. AARP is simply an affinity company who directs auto insurance inquiries to The Hartford.
Hartford makes its own decisions regarding claims and underwriting. AARP has no say in how those decisions are made. If you want to be angry at someone regarding the way a claim was handled, you should be mad at The Hartford.

Great day, you can buy membership anywhere easier than T.P. Have you read a magazine lately ? How about your junk mail ?
Why is the Q getting involved in this? Great discounts would have to be offereed to make it feasible, and I can't see that happening .
Easy pay ? HA HA HA !!!!

There are lots of things QVC sells that I do not like -- either because of the qualities of the item or even the actions of the manufacturer -- so I do not buy them. I do not find the need to complain or assume that QVC's selling of an item is a tacit endorsement of the vendor's policies or politics.
QVC is in business to make money, and they attempt to sell items that will make them a profit. They cannot please everyone, but some posters apparently refuse to accept this reality.
Exactly. The irony here is that if, say, a group who some believed has some tenuous ties, warranted or not, to a conservative agenda, what do you think these posters would be saying to anyone who complained similarly. I'll tell you what they'd say: "Mountain out of a molehill," "get a life," "bunch of PC kwap," etc., ad nauseam.
And I'm just amazed at the naivete of those who think they now know what political side QVC is on -- all because they had AARP on. As if QVC gives a flying fig about anything other than -- wait for it, wait for it -- PROFIT.
suzyQ3, you said it right!
Agree suzyQ3 ![]()
If some would take the time to look at who stands to gain the most from QVC selling AARP, they would see that. The person who owns the most stock in QVC (John Malone), is a Conservative with libertarian views. Which is just the opposite of what they claim AARP is.

Political? I thought AARP was about benefits and discounts for seniors. What is political about that?

Wonder how they would handle it if some of these people found out their doctors, or their church leaders, or their kids' teachers, or their mechanic or -heaven forbid - the corporate executives of their grocery store, "leaned" in a different direction than they do??? Stop going to their doctor, yank their kids out of school, find a different grocery store or mechanic, and of course, investigate all of them before they switch!??!
AARP advocates for the benefit of seniors, and they also offer a very good Medicare Supplement, so I don't care which way they "lean", just as I don't care which way my doctor goes, or my mechanic, etc. etc. EVERYTHING does not have to be political, people!

Personally, I'm no fan of AARP, but when the time comes, if they can help me, I'll be there. That said, there are senior organizations with a different slant, though one wonders how well organized or useful they ultimately are to members.
I don't happen to believe that the appearance of an hour of AARP programming speaks to any particular single political slant tht QVC might or might not take... Nor am I particularly worried about it. Like everything else on QVC, I'm free to watch or not, and to take it or leave it. I wasn't remotely interested so didn't watch...
As for the larger discussion about AARP's endorsement of recent health care, um, initiatives... I'm sure they had their reasons, and while said initiatives might benefit some, please don't ask a good friend who has to provide her own policy, but who, 'promises' aside..., was unable to keep her plan. She found another on 'the exchange' for many hundred more a month and it even provides 'maternity'. Being a widow in her fifties, she reports being thrilled to no end with this coverage and with it's cost... But hey, she's sure someone, somewhere is benefiting from her 'enhanced' premiums and the coverage she'll never use...

You might not want to suggest that too loudly... I can just hear the hosts now.

While QVC can certainly do whatever they want to do I have to admit to being really somewhat mystified as to why they're making some of the choices they make... I think we all get that money drives the train, but there are all sorts of ways for a shopping channel to make money.
Well said my friend......of all the things in the entire world to bring to QVC a puzzlement indeed......
Just like that "travel agency"......
To quote Robert Palmer, I think this lyric applies to the QVC Executive Offices "the lights are on but no ones home"...
