Re: $78 FOR TWO FRUIT PIES??

@Sooner @Johnnyeager "I will stand up for your right to spend as much as you want on pie as a good American!  Shame on people for trying to shame someone for buying pie!  You go guy!  Enjoy!"

Re: $78 FOR TWO FRUIT PIES??

After reading this agree prices are getting higher for food on the Q . I understand  this also is because of  shipping prices .Everything looks good till I see the price's.

 Started wondering how many do order food items eating them and  enjoying every bite and then calling Q for a refund, bet you can only do it once or twice I would hope so.

Like HSN had Nutrasystem on recently kept hearing you can eat all the food for the whole  month and if you don't like it  just call and get your money back.

@Etoile308I don't find their prices out of line at all. To me baked goods are a treat that I don't indulge in too often. Last pie I bought for a special get together was $45 from The Little Pie Company. To me it was worth it. I no longer go through the effort to make pie crust. I no longer clean, peel, and slice apples. I no longer have all the fresh spices on hand. To me making a fresh pie, the way I like, is not only labor intensive but also ingredient costly."

I agree with you about the cost.  The spices are incredibly expensive.  To make a pie you would have to buy vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, ginger, nutmeg, etc.  A bottle of a spice can run close to ten dollars.  In the long run it is cheaper to buy ready made pies.

I have all of those ingredients in my kitchen.

Here we go again.

They sell the pies to people who want a pie from a small business that still uses ingredients that sound appealing. I want a pie that uses butter in their crust, not vegetable oils.

Such good points.  I am an experienced baker, have made my own pies in the past.  But now live alone and watch my carb and sugar intake.  If I bought all the ingredients, including spices, to make one pie for guests, it would be costly and those spices would eventually be discarded.

@lgfan

Yep, do it very often.  We don't eat them because of diabetes but lots of friends who love them and want me to make them for them.  No charge.  Just enjoy the giving.

@Johnnyeager

"I have purchased these from this vendor from QVC.

They were wonderful and delicious.

It was my money, my choice."

I agree with you that it is a matter of choice.  Some people spend that kind of money on a bottle of wine or champagne and think nothing of it.  So I don't see what the problem is in spending money on a pie.

I  am not a pie person but when I want one I would never spend that  much.
