A few years ago, there were three attempts to use my card in one year by three separate people. Bank of America caught all three and issued new cards.
I use BofA's ShopSafe now.
@Foxxee Independent sellers on Etsy do NOT have access to buyers' credit card information! I know because I have been an Etsy seller for over 11 years.
BofA traced the charge back to her. BofA called me and asked if I knew her. I recognized it as the gal I previously purchased something. She somehow got my card number. It's an incident I won't forget...haven't purchased anything from Etsy since then.

@Foxxee I wouldn't forget it either....However I'm wondering just how she got your number. I have thousands of sales on Etsy and don't know anyone's credit card information...Etsy has that.

I have to agree with the other comments about Etsy sellers not having access to buyers' payment details—the Etsy Payments system is integrated into PayPal, so there would be no way to obtain credit card details.

Could it possibly be she works for Etsy and sells things on the side? Don't know if Etsy's policies would allow that...but how she got my card number is a mystery to me, too.

I’ve been shopping with QVC for over 20 years but am feeling very concerned at the moment. The Visa card I have on file for my account was used by another QVC customer to buy a camera for over $1800 on Sunday. As I did not make this purchase or authorize it in any way I called QVC to see what had happened. I just received a call back from a supervisor who explained that once they received the camera back I would get my refund! I naturally did not agree with this and was then told I needed to dispute the charge with my Visa card company to get my money back via their dispute process. Again I disagreed as I find it highly suspicious that somehow my card was used for another member’s purchase. I reviewed my credit card charges and there are no other fraudulent charges which make me think it could be an internal QVC mix up. Irregardless, I think I’m due an explanation as to how this could have happened plus an immediate refund. Otherwise, how can I feel secure keeping my credit cards on file? I’m posting this as a heads up for other customers to check their credit card charges. It’s no joke having an $1800 charge appear and be stuck on your credit card!
It's regardless, not irregardless.
You are looking at it from your perspective only.
QVC is not accusing you of a thing but QVC has to protect itself too.
This is why you call your credit card company first and allow them to deal with it.
As for the security of your personal information, that's a QVC problem. I am sure you will be getting a new credit card from your credit card company.
Also, your card information could have been taken from any number of sources. The thief just used it at QVC.

Why would the supervisor suggest that the item would be returned? A crook doesnt usually return merchandise. I'm wondering if the illicit purchase was done by someone known to the OP, perhaps a family member? There's something funny going on here.
I agree. There are missing pieces.

I have an AmEX card on file with QVC. I make very few purchases from QVC but i am thinking that when I do I have to put in the security code on my AMEX card before the purchase goes through. Maybe I am mistken about this. This is to prevent someone from having your card # but not your card with the security code.

Why would QVC ship a camera to someone that wasn't a "Q customer"? Are you suggesting that Q was fulfilling an order for another company and billing a legitimate Q customer?
