Re: $1.99 charge now on paper bills

I pay all my bills on line and automatic payments set up for all my utilities.  I never have to worry about forgetting as well.

I have paid my Q bill for a long time on line.  I just go in after I get an email notice saying what I owe and pay.  You can even schedule a head of time or pay your easy pays a head too.  Always due for me on the 19th.

Writing checks and mailing out and all that paper no thanks.

Re: $1.99 charge now on paper bills

I stopped getting paper bills for everything many many years ago. Why waste paper, ink, postage, printer, and employee time when I can look it up myself?

I don't like my personal info or account numbers floating around in the mail.

I investigated fraud for 20 years and it's not as risky to look it up myself as long as I have solid passwords and multi-factor identification set up.

I also get my bills emailed and pay them online.  Started doing this a number of years ago, when the post office lost a payment or I did not receive a bill on time.  However, I know a number of people that have no computer or email access.  This is really unfair to charge someone a fee that cannot get their bills any other way but by mail.

Re: $1.99 charge now on paper bills

I got an email about this some time ago.  I opted for the paperless billing, but I honestly prefer having a hard copy mailed to me.  This was just another slightly annoying thing to me, so I really don't use my Q card hardly at all anymore.  If they have some super duper deal that you can only get with your Q card, I might cave.  Otherwise, I won't be using mine.  And even though I never had an ongoing balance on my card, their interest rate is insulting to me.  Just another reason not to use it .... for me.

Re: $1.99 charge now on paper bills

Most businesses moved away from paper based AR/AP long ago.  It was eye popping to see all the trashed file cabinets.

So if one wishes to still be paper based, it is expensive for the company and it is appropriate to have a fee.

The rest of us don't want to foot the bill for this service.

I am confused as usual. What is the charge for? Just to send a paper bill or if you have to make a payment?

I resent being charged for doing business with and making them money for them, so if a credit card company requires me to pay for a hard/paper statement, I stop using their card. I no longer use my Sychrony card.

Not only is there a global climate crisis, the same with "waste management". No need for paper waste. You can see all transactions from your account, if a few clicks on your computer isn't  too much trouble.

Yes, the $1.99 charge is to send the paper bill.

Are the folks that want a paper statement also paying by check?  Or are those folks paying online?

I pay online and want paper statements.

Everytime I pay with a cc, the issuer gets a transaction fee that more than covers their cost of sending me a paper statement.
