we have a 3 1/2 year old yorkie and an 11 year old min pin. Our yorkie gets a new toy for every single holiday, even minor ones. He loves to play with his toys but wants someone to play with him of course. I think he will be like our big Micki we had that lived to be 16 1/2 and was 95 lbs, mix of lab and dobie with a little shepherd thrown in, lol. She love to play right up to almost the end and think our little Mickey will be the same way.
our 11 year old never did play with anything no matter how often we tried. She loves to be held but wants no part of toys but does love a treat so that is what she gets for holidays, more treats.
Wishing all your pets a very Merry Christmas.

I took the easy way out, I am just giving them money. Going to a dog trial the day after christmas ans they will be able to pick something out for themselves. One will look at the treats and the other will want a new toy.

okay so I got my one non-toy playing dog the puck off ebay and then I got this for my other boy who does like to chew toys.
This is a Kong treat dispensing chew toy. I put a few dried liver treats and he spent an hour trying to get the pieces out, lol. Not sure if he will chew on it without the treats but it at least entertained him for awhile. He gets bored easily so I need toys to keep him entertained.
Still wish I could have found my one boy a replacement for his pretty worn out stuffed furry man toy, lol.
And they both got the special dog treats made by our local natural bakery.

I just have to say, my boy was soooo excited about his puck! I mean, he knew instantly what it was as I was taking it ouf the package that he tried to snatch it from before I could get it off the cardboard backing, lol! He has been chewing on it for about a half hour and just now dropped it and is resting, lol. It has been a long time since he had one so his jaw is not use to it yet. He was tossing it around for awhile in seemingly gleeful play before he laid down by the fire to chew on it. I just love my boys!

I'm a little mad at myself and a bit concerned for our dog. I know this is purely a fetching toy and not meant for chewing, so it's totally my fault. We included him in the opening of gifts with our family last night. He was so cute with the first one, opened and left to go enjoy it. By the time we got around to it being his turn again, he was back and opened the tennis ball on a rope. I wasn't paying attention, as I was watching the gift opening, and the dog was quitely on the floor beside me. A couple of minutes passed and I looked down. He had eaten half of the tennis ball off the toy. Now I wish I'd bought the puck version! Live and learn. I'm sure he's fine, he's eating and drinking, and acting normally. I thought for sure I'd come down this morning to find that he'd puked on his new bed mat. We just have to wait for nature to take its course at this point.

@JeanLouiseFinch ah yes, been there before with the pucks even. After many many times of being chewed for hours, the pucks integrity starts to break down. Well, before I had realized that several years ago, my one dog had broke it in half and then began biting off chunks and swallowing them! He has a sensitive stomach so within minutes he was throwing up the chunks. I was so mad for not inspecting the puck after each use and making sure the integrity of it was still intact so they wouldn't be able to break it into pieces. Well, lesson learned and now I make sure to check it out all the time and if it even begins to look precarious, I toss it. I am sure your dog will be fine and pass them through without any issues, especially if they were smaller pieces. You already know to keep an eye on him and make sure you don't see any changes to his eating and drinking habits and bowel movements which could indicate a blockage. It is so weird they eat things like that! It can't taste good, can it? lol
