Well, my little Luna is going in this Thursday to have her cataracts removed and I am beside myself!!! She is my little Pomeranian rescue and she is only 4yrs old. She is diabetic, has allergies, bad trachea and a few other things!!! God bless her little heart!!! My hubby says she is too young not to have the surgery so he dipped into his 401K. He said she is worth it, she didn't ask for this to happen!!!!  It's not going to be a walk in the park, wearing the cone, cause she does not handle " change " very well!!! Our big boy had hip surgery when we first got him (rescue) that resulted in sleeping in the living room on a blow up matress for 2 weeks because he could not do steps!!!! Did I mentioned he is a 108lb Mastiff/Ridgeback!!! Well, God willing, we can get through this also with flying colors!!!!

Little Luna has much to contend with at such a young age. Her blessing is that you and your husband have made her a cherished part of your family. Your husband saying she didn't ask for her cataracts and would take care of her without question spoke volumes.

Your house sounds graced with love and affection. Will pray for Luna and hope her surgery and recovery go well.. All the best to the four of you.

Adding my best wishes for a wonderful result and recovery for Luna.  All of our dogs are rescues and we have provided the medical care and procedures they needed.  I applaud your efforts to provide Luna with the care and love that she needs.  Spending nights in the living room has been a regular part of our care routine.   I just bought an inflatable bed for that area to make it easier for the humans.  One of our dogs (a peek)  had surgical repair of a tear/hole in her cornea  and she recovered well but it took some time and post op care to get her there.  We had to take her to a Opthalmology specialist in the adjacent state since our area didn't have that specialty at the time.   Apparently the eye was part of her injuries when she was hit my a car and came to us with a fractured pelvis and several other injuries.  Please keep us posted on Luna's  surgery and progress.  I will follow with you!

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

@DiamondsandGold   I think she will do fine.  My little Yorkie had the cataract surgery years ago when he was a about 8 years old.  He did fine.  They only thing was the eye drops he had to have 2 times per day.  He hated that, he even bit me one time when I was giving him the drops.  Be careful doing that, otherwise it's nothing to worry about.  I don't remember him having to wear a cone with that surgery.  He had had bladder stone surgeries prior to the cateract surgery and did have to wear a cone then.

Good luck to Luna. Looks like both your dogs hit the jackpot of families to be lucky enough to be in. Keep us posted.
