The world's oldest golden retriever is celebrating her 20th birthday — a truly impressive milestone given that the average life expectancy of the breed is 10 to 12 years.

August, whose owners Jennifer and Steve Hetterscheidt call her Augie, turned 20 on April 24 and celebrated with a cake and some fluffy friends.

She has lived with the couple in Oakland, Tennessee since age 14, and thanks to their care, has managed to live twice as long as most dogs of her kind.

That's seriously old for a Golden. My Rosie lived fourteen plus years and that was longer than normal.

That is just so wonderful to see, bless her heart, my oldest was 15yrs. ,youngest was  8 yrs, 5 months, i simply love goldens.

Thank you,  just think they got her at 14, i guess from a rescue, perhaps, and she is 20,  just remarkable.
