THANKS! @GingerPeach Ive probably seen them in the pet stores but didnt pay attention due to having senior dogs with little teeth left. and they probably looked like puppy toys to me. good to have this info, thanks!!
did your senior dog like them?
Hi @nougat
My last girl didn't like them so much. The stores only had the red ones and they were probably too hard for her.
If I'd known about the purple ones, I probably would have made more of a point of filling that one with things she liked. As it was, the red ones weren't much fun for her.
On the other hand, a dog I had before liked the Kong.
I think it's probably individual to the dog and also how enticing the things inside are to the dog.
I admit I was not too good with it since my dogs seemed to always prefer bully sticks (until the vet said no more harder chews) and those kept them busy. And I didn't have something to clean up afterward or put in the dishwasher.

@nougat When will your Vet be doing the testing for Cushions disease in Tote? Please let us know what happens with that.

I took her in yesterday all ready to do the test but another poster suggested a bladder ultrasound first so I asked him about it. he said the cells would show in blood/urine if she had cancer or tumors in bladder.
then he said he was thinking about what I said the day before on cortisol/creatinine ratio in the urine from taking in the research I did from all you guy's postings!! and he said there is one more urine test he can do for the ratio before doing the elaborate Cushings test.
so I took tiny girl home and collected a urine for him to test.
this was good news to me and you all deserve the credit!! for all your helpful posts!
thats what brought this new developement on! THANK YOU ALL !!!
he also mentiond Diabetes Insipidus (sp) as a very rare possibility. its not regular Diabetes and I have to research it yet and she will need to be sent to a specialist farther away for that. I will keep you posted on the latest test done!

I'll be interested in what he finds out from the urine test. I'll bet you'll still have to have the full Cushings test done to get a definitive diagnosis though. I know you're so anxious to figure out what's wrong with little Tote.

I have a senior dog who was peeing constantly and couldn't get enough to drink. He eats well though. We live in deep south Texas where the summers are well past 100 degrees. My dogs are all indoor dogs and though I keep them inside, I know my senior babies cannot tolerate the heat or regulate their cores as well as the younger ones. I have fallen victim to heat exhaustion and dehydration many times and recognized his symptoms as dehydration. When I get dehydrated, I drink more and I don't sip the water as I should. I gulp it down. Wrong thing to do. You should sip it so it can be utilized by the body and absorbed. When you gulp it, it will go right through you, hence all the constant peeing. So I figured his electrolytes were unbalanced and began to give him small amounts of Pedialyte. Since he is a senior dog, I also add purified water to his food, clip his fur short in the summer and don't allow his coat to become oily as it only traps heat. Maybe a bath every 2 wks or so with a gentle natural soap. He does well with this method but I'm only sharing in case its something that can be used for yours. I read many posts and it looks like everyone has great advice.
Also, I would use a great food like Acana, Stella and Chewy's, Pure Vita, Fromm or Grandma Lucy's to give to your babies. They are excellent foods and I highly recommend them to anyone. You'd be surprised how many brand name foods sold in supermarkets, pet stores and the like, partake in animal testing! And many do so much damage to the kidneys.
Forgive me if I sound like a know it all, that's not my intention, I just love my kids and try to pass on whatever has worked for us so that perhaps it can work for others.
I hope your baby begins to feel better soon! Hugs from Texas.

thank you @Puppy-eyes7 for the advice ! i do already do a few of the things you mentioned. its all great advice to try! I'm not in a super hot climate but just know there has to be a reason for the peeing and drinking so am doing all to find out why.
waiting on lastest test results and wil share when I get answers
