Granted, this is not a problem or even a concern, but a curiosity.
There is no rhyme nor reason to their logic, IMO, because they do not pick one particular flavor to spit out. The stuff left on the floor is doomed never to be eaten again.
If you have dogs or cats, do your pets do this too?

My cat does it. No pattern. No consistency. Arbitrary kibble rejection.
My motto when it comes to cat behavior: “WHY ASK WHY?”

@gizmogal lol arbitrary kibble rejection, am so using that phrase!

My Kingston just refuses to eat OVER his bowl, LOL!
There are always crumbles of kibble on the mat around his bowl, but it's funny that there's no remnants of the chopped up beef liver or chicken that I add to his food, LOL!
I just sweep up the kibble crumbs and throw them back in this bowl, he eats them eventually, LOL!

I have one cat who's a spitter, another who's not.
Further, even with feral outside cats, some spit food, some don't.
I'm convinced it's not a matter of who's hungrier.
Those that don't spit seem to be the slower eaters who only take in a few pieces at a time instead of scooping up a mouthful.

@KingstonsMom I do sweep it back but was afraid of being called out as a bad dog Mom.
So glad someone else does it too!

My one girl will not only randomly spit kibble on the floor and resume eating but she will also take random pieces of kibble to her bed to eat it there, then go back to her bowl to continue eating.
???

It's kibble, it doesn't go bad unless it's been wet, you're not a 'bad dog Mom'!

My cat does this also. She takes a big bite, turns her head away from the bowl to chew, and part of it ends up on the floor. I just vacuum it up.
