Ava is a beautiful girl.  I am sure that Ava and Henry will get along and eventually become friends.  I am happy for you that you took a leap of faith and adopted your new pup.  She and Henry will both give you much happiness.

I think it may have been better now, than later, when it comes to Henry accepting him.

DD has 8 indoor cats and when her pit bull and lab passed away (who the cats loved) she waited for 1.5 years before she adopted another pit bull (cat friendly).

Poor Charley (the rescue) took swats to the nose regular and often for a week or so, LOL!

Seems like the cats forgot what life was like living with a dog who wanted to sniff their butts all the time, LOL!

They're all fine together now though.

I'm glad it all worked out eventually with your daughter's cats and the new dog.  I really wanted another dog now, but I did think it might not go as well with Henry if I waited too long.

I'm so glad Ava is the buff color.  Other small dogs we've seen here which are black just look like blobs in photos.  You can't see their features.  Ava photographs beautifully; we will enjoy many pictures of her.  You were so lucky to get her.

Henry obviously didn't feel threatened by her.  I bet your heart skipped a beat when you saw him waiting at the door.  He was hoping she was gone, no doubt.  LOL.

Thank you @Witchy Woman  @Dinaki   @noodleann   @on the bay  and @seaBreeze .  I just took Ava outside and Henry was waiting at the door when we came back in.  Henry arched his back but did not hiss.  Ava sniffed him and then walked away.  I consider that a successful first meeting!

I had a feeling Henry would come through. He knows you need her, too.

That is a brilliant first meeting!

Ava is precious!   I know that she has found her FURever home and is lucky you have come to her rescue.  You will both be good for each other and I am sure Henry will adjust as well.  NOW your family is complete and filled with love!

One more picture that I thought was particularly sweet.

@Drythe   Yes!  Ears up!  She had them down when she first got here but has had them up almost the entire rest of the day.
