I am so very sorry for your loss. There are a lot of us here who know exactly what you're going through. Sending hugs and healing thoughts.❤️

Yes. I experienced almost the identical situation. It was unbearable, especially because she was a healthy girl who had been to the vet for a general checkup just days before. We managed to get her to an emergency vet who X-rayed her and said it was congenital heart failure, with no hope of another day. She breathed her last right there as I was talking to her, petting her and letting her know how much she was loved.
we had adopted her six years before from a Golden Retriever rescue. It was instant bonding with her, and we were blessed to have her until she was 12.
After a few days of numbness, we contacted the same rescue who found another beautiful girl for us. She eased our pain, and we felt like she was Nikki's gift to us. I guess you could say that we rescued each other!
The new dog does not replace the old one and never could. But the pain is eased and both our lives and the lives of the dogs we rescue are enriched.
I am so very, very sorry for your loss.💕💕💕💕💕

I've lost many a pet over the years. Time does helps but will always be a place in my heart for my furbabies.
Our black lab died suddenly like that as well. My husbands buddy. He still says I sure miss that dog. He was a good old boy.
Sorry for your loss. Just doesn't seem right. Always leaves me 💔.

It will get better and become bearable, someday. You will always miss your dog...the pain will fade after a long time.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I know it all too well. I have cats and they are my kids as I don't have the human kind. I have a brother and sister from same litter and watched them being born, held them in the palm of my hand (so tiny) and the female is still with me at almost 23, but her brother, my favorite, passed away with me holding him, a mere 4 months ago. I've never seen my husband sob so hard. His name was Baby Boy and would hug you and push his head against yours while he hugged you. He walked with a lease and never had to be trained. He was my baby. Difference is, he was sick and we knew it was coming. You didn't. I don't know which is worse. One is better for you, and one way is better for them. I had just prayed he would pass at home with us and he did. Be glad for that, that you were with him, and find peace in the Lord and pray and talk to your baby every night. It helps. Know too, that you will be together again someday and you gave him a good life. Our animal babies bring us so much love and joy. Praying for you and your heart to heal.

@spent2much ...i am sosorry for what you are experiencing. First the harrowing experience of her being totally incapacitated and the breathing and trying to figure out what you should do. Then second the utter shock of her passing and now the grief and disbelief and loss.
QEll was right when she said " grief is the price we pay for love".
I hope you can think about how you gave Jessie a great life. She loved you so much. She wouldve been a street stray if not for you. Its crushing right now but it can get better. Give yourself time as this just happened and grieve and then move forward in love and health Xoxo
