Update....”Am I Making A Mistake?

So sorry I have not posted about my new dog coming from Arkansas...he is a six-month old Sheltie, tri-colored.  He looks adorable, and doesn’t look like my Sheltie, Teddy, who died in July.  He has been delayed coming to me for 3 weeks as the Volunteer Truck Delivery person had to buy a new vehicle, and then obtain the papers and permits to transport animals.

My original post was concerning my feelings getting a new pup, as my feelings were so raw with losing my Teddy.  I loved this dog more than some people!

But the delay in getting my new dog has helped .  My feelings and crying jags over losing my boy have subsided.  I can now laugh a lot remembering his antics.  Every now and then, I have a lump in my throat, but I am so much better.  I feel I’m ready to have a new friend.

@AbbyK There is no one who will ever replace Teddy's place in your heart.  There will always be a special place, reserved for Teddy.  That's the great thing about having a big heart, you have room to love a new friend.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

I am glad you are opening your heart to a new dog. Everytime I lose one, I am very sad but I give my heart to a rescue. I know that I am helping another soul plus I get some love too.

@AbbyK I can’t wait to hear about your new friend when he comes home. I’ve loved and lost fur babies through the years and have always loved again. So can you. Bless you.

I too have a tri colored sheltie.  They are not real common.  My boy is so timid around other dogs that they walk all over him.

I'm so glad you're getting another dog.  Sheltie's are just beautiful.  I've never really been around one but have always admired them.

@AbbyK, I am so happy that you had the time to really grieve for Teddy and am now ready (or just about) for your new baby.  There is always room in your heart for one more.  Thanks for the update.  I know that you both will have a very happy life with Teddy watching over.

My first Sheltie was my heart dog. She was fabulous in every way. She bonded with me quickly, was always obedient, and learned fast.  She was from a backyard breeder and I was told so many negative things about getting a dog from a backyard breeder but my experience was great.

I have my second sheltie now. She’s very sweet. She’s not the same as my first one.  She is herself. I guess that’s the way it’s meant to be.

Good of luck with your new dog!  😊
