Friday report: Frankie says hello to all Schmoosters this evening!
Her continued new diet and medicines seem to be helping to some extent. I think the calmest house possible is the key. We're working on some techniques to calm the middle of the night caterwauling and running around issues--either it's separation anxiety or hyperthyroidism, perhaps. She does get a workout playing throughout the day--she's wearing us out!--so that's not it.
The thoughts were that blood pressure could be responsible, but her blood pressure is normal.
She's a mystery, this little one. But she's our mystery, the one we love, and that's all that matters:

@Sammycat1 Im sorry your kitty isnt feeling well. Although I havent read all the issues from the previous posts, would you consider taking her to a holistic vet? Just from personal experience i saw a few different vets to get the some relief. I took her to the same vet that Oprah saw for her pets in Chicago. She had a waiting list for appointments for 3 months but we got her in. She is very well known and works with both easter and western medicine. Expensive but Very knowledgable. Im sure theres one in your area too. My kitty was having diarrhea and vomitting and we hadnt changed anything. She told us to cut out dry food completley, it was terrible for her causing a lot of painful bloating. There is prescription clay that really helps get their GI health better. I do eventually have to change her diet to raw but im still on the the fence about that one. I hope your kitty gets better soon. Please keep us updated.

I'm surprised with all of her playful activity with you, that it doesn't tire her out at night. Where do you think separation anxiety plays into this?
With you & DH still figuring things out, you're bound to come up with the "right recipe" for her wellness. Sending you all my best wishes & a calm & peaceful weekend.
Sweet Frankie: I hope you feel better soon. Continue playing with Mom & Dad, that's a good sign. We're still sending you our prayers & hugs. Sweet dreams Sweet Little Angel Girl.

@Sammycat1 I've probably missed some posts, and right now I don't have time to play catch up as there's been lots going on here (all the cats are fine- it's people issues!) But I did see the post about Frankie's nighttime mystery. Is she wailing only after poo-ing, or does it come in unrelated bursts?
If it's only from litter box happenings, could it be a nerve? Back when Frito had the abscess on his tail head, it made him run strangely around during the poo process due to pain from the injury to the nerves down there.
2 times in my cat history, I've had cats howling at night because they are losing their hearing. I don't know why it's only at night, maybe it's because the darkness adds an uptick in anxiety, but they were rather vocal about it. Emmie (technically my mom's cat, but my mom's cats are basically my cats too) turns 17 on Sept. 8, and shes one of the midnight howlers. If I go to her and reassure her she's fine, she usually settles down.

Monday report: Thanks to so many Schmoosters for your thoughts and ideas about Frankie's "midnight yeowls," including @CamilleP @mintedrose @sceniccoast @KitTkat @beastielove.
The diarrhea and yeowling appear to be separate issues; she doesn't yeowl when doing the deed, only sometimes when she's sitting near the box. This doesn't account for the loud meowing and running throughout the upstairs at randowm moments. Hearing and sight fine in tests. New "elimination" diet and medication actually working better on stools. Our vet already blends the best of Western and homeopathic medicine--he's a big believer in both. For example, we left clay in the dust two months ago.
The stools are finally going the right way. Now it's the yeowls. We have lights on all over the house; I can't sleep with the lights off, a throwback to Schmoo dayhs. It's not pain, as far as we can tell: she gets one installment of her 3 times/day buprenex at 12:40 a.m. It's not the buprenex. She doesn't yeowl at all during the day.
What's going on at night? We're both asleep.
Because of the pandemic, we've both been working from home and largely been at home because of related health risks. We notice if we go out together, which is seldom, she flips out. And after a day of extra togetherness, we go to bed and she has no one "with" her. Since her "sister" Fay Wray the cat died last summer, she has struggled with being the survivor.
So we're working on it and we appreciate any and all ideas! She did a little better last night. Here's a picture of our girl--very dark--curled up in some baby blankies next to my head on the bed. I snuck a midnight photo of her with my iPad while she's utterly secure and snoozing:

@Sammycat1 & DH,
Many thanks for your most precious care of Sweet Frankie. She continues testing both you & her most Excellent Vet. You have so much patience & hearts of gold for your precious girl.
Sweet Frankie: Your loving Mom & Dad are doing whatever they can to help you. You need to be a tad forgiving if they need a little "alone" time. They always return to you with the same love.
This photo is very precious during your bedtime. I hope you had a pleasant & restful sleep last tight. I still pray for you each day for wellness & want nothing but calm & happiness for you. May this week bring you loads of sunshine, plenty of conversations with your critter friends & peacefulness.
You're loved so much Sweet Little Angel Girls. From my 2 napping sisters, Ginger & Fluffy to you while you're napping/sleeping.

Tuesday report: Greetings, Schmoosters!
Last night we had some damp, raw, rainy weather move in and Frankie said: "Turn on that dang duraflame!" So I heeded her commands, and we created a nice toasty retreat.
She seemed so relaxed that she was utterly boneless, similar to the way she was late yesterday afternoon in one of her desktop beds, pictured below.
Of course she's resting on a 100% cotton flannel baby blankie in a color that showcases her lustrous fur. Also notice a tiny pic to the left of her head...it's me and DH on our wedding day, her pet parents watching over her, as always:

I know, they certainly can get bossy. My girls are the same & if I don't obide by their rules/requests, I pay for it by listening to constant whining or howeling.
Your Frankie is just precious. All her photos you post are just adorable, please let her know from me.
Sweet Frakie: hope you enjoyed your nap. And, for tonight, I'm sending you blessings & wishes as usual for calming & pleasant dreams.
