Re: That Schmoo, he is one tough kitty fighter -- 2.0

@Sammycat1 , DH & Sweet Frankie,

May you have a safe journey tomorrow - both ways.

Angel Frankie:  I hope you have a calm travel tomorrow.  Maybe you'll be sleepy enough so it doesn't bother you so much.  My 2 kitties send you their best wishes.  Oh, by the way, they both agree with you about over stressing while in a car.  They dislike it very much & they only have a 10-15 minute ride to their vet.

Please stay calm tonight & have a peaceful sleep.  My prayers are with you tonight & for tomorrow's success with your surgery.  Come back & visit us as soon as you can to let us know you're feeling better.

Sending you all many Blessings & loads of comfort (((hugs))).  Heart

Re: That Schmoo, he is one tough kitty fighter -- 2.0

Dearest Friends report:  We are overwhelmed with your well wishes, prayers, encouragement, tips -- the whole thing.

We've chosen this plan after hard deliberations today and hope it's in our dear girl's best interest. We can't bear to think of life with her in pain -- or without her.  If there's a solid chance to save her, this is it, even though it's with risk.

Even her regular vet circled back this evening and is pretty insistent that she get an esophageal tube so her mouth can rest while we feed and medicate her through the tube because of her liver's frailty. As tired and stressed as many participants (i.e., DH and I) were today, we all kept thinking and trying to find the right solution.

DH is "Nurturer and Comforter in Chief."  I am "Champion in Chief of All Things Medical." Not a bad team for our girl.

And may I anoint everyone here officially "Cheerleaders in Chief" for our girl.  We'll contact you tomorrow when we're able -- good night and sweet dreams:

[ Edited ]

@Sammycat1  gone a few days and I find 67 new posts  to read. I went through them fast, afraid that there would be the hardest post of all, but Frankie's still with us.

I know the setback was hard and scary, but Frankie's on the right path. Several years ago, my cat Popeye was hit by a tractor and broke his leg. Rushed him in and there was a specialist vet at my clinic that day that would have surgically repaired the break, but it would have cost $1500 to do it. My vet said, buuuuut, I could do it for half. I chose my own trusted vet, believing that she was specialist enough. She also said if she couldn't repair his leg, she would amputate it for free. On surgery day, I was a wreck. I don't know why, but I kept praying that God would spare Popeyes life. Not leg, life. The surgery was after hours, so I was home. I got the call. My heart stopped. She said, Popeyes alive, but that's about it. He had a rare reaction to the anesthetic. As he was coming out, his heart stopped. She worked on Popeye, trying to bring him back for several minutes. The other doctor in the room told her to give up, but she refused. Popeyes heart started beating again. His lungs started working again, but it was the doctor's fear that Popeye would be brain dead. In the morning, he was awake, alert, purring and hungry. It was as if the entire event never happened. A miracle that is still talked about in the vets office years later. I always believed that if any other vet operated on Popeye, with him having that nearly fatal reaction, they wouldn't have saved Popeye's life. They would have given up. Popeye was on the right path, with the right doctor. The same is true for Frankie today. She's in the right hands at the right time and the right results are going to happen.

And right now Popeye and Teddy are up with me. Praying for your precious Frankie.

Re: That Schmoo, he is one tough kitty fighter -- 2.0

I'm staying up as late as I can to keep the Frankie prayer connection going. I just stepped outside, looked up to the sky to pray for Frankie. I know I am privileged, living in the country, surrounded by farm fields, with little light to disrupt the view, and get to see the wide expanse of the brilliant stars on display. Right now, the sky is clear here, the stars shining and bright. There is no sounds other than nature. Peaceful. Perfect. I'm praying that this same serenity goes with you @Sammycat1 and DH as you travel, even amidst the chaos of traffic, noise and lights. May peace and calm, comfort and hope be with you.❤

Sweetest Frankie,

Even though it's been ages since I've posted to these boards, i read them everyday and the Pets Forum is my go-to place. Hearing about your adventures (and sis Fay Wray) helped alleviate the deep grief of losing one of my kitties nearly 2 years ago to a lengthy, painful medical battle.

Buddy and I are sending you and your parents all the unlimited positivity, light and hope that exists in this world. Buddy wants you to know that he, too, loves piles of fluffy cozy blankets, a trusty warm Duraflame, watching squirrels and mice, inhaling catnip, and climbing on top of mom's laptop when she's typing!

We love you so much, sassy little fighter, and we'll always be your extended family in Seattle.

It's just before 7 AM, so I expect you've arrived and are probably getting Frankie relocated to her surgical home for the day. The noodleann camp of three cats plus me are with you all the way. Tammy is still sending her tough girl healing energy. She turns 12 next month and never had a sick day, so you know it's the good stuff. Best, best, best to Frankie and her two hero helpers. Heart

@Sammycat1

If the shear number of good wishes and prayers can do it, Frankie has got this!
