Tasty Cat Treat Recipe from my Rescue Group, Yum!

[ Edited ]

My rescue group, One Love Animal Rescue, posted this recipe in our newsletter.....so far DD's 8 indoor cats drool for them, LOL!

Also, I hope you don't mind if I show you one of our transport vehicles, we transported 53 dogs to Delaware so far this month, only 18 days!

One Love Animal Rescue's transports help even more dogs find loving homes! We recently drove 53 dogs to Delaware and several were adopted before we even got there! This is an exciting avenue for us to continue our mission.

that looks great! I will have to try and make them for my kitties. I know they'd enjoy them, too.

Will they keep for a few days if they are in an airtight container? Should I refrigerate them?

No need to refrigerate, just keep in airtight container.

@KingstonsMom   It's wonderful that your rescue group transported so many dogs.  It's great that you participate in this rescue.  I used to do rescue work but haven't in a few years.

Henry hasn't liked any treats I've given him, but these sound like something he might enjoy.  Thanks for posting the recipe.  None of the treats I've tried have been homemade.  Can you freeze them?

@NickNack

After baking, they're basically a cookie and cookies can be frozen, so I don't know why not, in an airtight container.

I actually was thinking about Henry, using them as as a treat/reward for not antagonizing lil' Ava!

I've never met an animal that wasn't primarily food motivated.

I also suggest a 'special treat' for Ava to entice her out of your room when she's afraid of Henry being nearby.

You can 'lure' Henry away from your dooway with the cat treats, then entice Ava out with her special treats.

Special treats for Ava: In training I use cooked beef liver cut in very small cubes or cook a chicken breast and dice, even hot dogs cut in small pieces gets their attention!

@KingstonsMom   Henry really doesn't try to antagonize Ava.  He just sits at the doors waiting for me.  Ava isn't treat motivated either, although I have discovered that she likes Charlee Bear liver and cranberry treats.  I've been using them for training.  The trainer brought hot dogs, and she wouldn't touch them.  I've never had a dog that wasn't treat motivated.  Ava is praise motivated.

I will make the treats for Henry.

I sometimes use the leash to get her out of my room in the morning.  She does well on a leash.  I think it's because she feels close to me and protected.

Do you think tuna packed in water or in oil would be best?

@estaw2000

I use tuna in water, too much oil can cause loose stools.
