Re: THE PET CHAT CORNER FEB.29 - MAR. 6

@brbfromTX - Thanks for your good wishes.

The cat is using Scoop Away clumping litter and an open litter box.

I actually have two open litter boxes -- one I used for the kitten, that is 5" high and a high-sided litter box.

I used the 5" high large litter box with with a liner.  I liked using the liner, because it was easy to remove the litter, and only a couple pieces of litter were in the bottom of the pan (not dirty).

The other litter box is one I ordered on-line.  It has high sides and a front opening for the cat to go in.  Because of the high sides, I can't use a liner in the box.  I've read reviews that the box is easy to clean, because it's very smooth inside.

I forgot to ask this question, and I hope someone can answer:  If I don't want to use Scoop Away clumping litter, do you think there would be a problem changing the litter when I get the cat home?  I want a litter that's not dusty.  I also can't handle large bags of litter, so I'll have to get 18 lb bags or boxes,

I used Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Clumping Litter for the kitten, and that came in 18 lb bags.  I didn't seem to have a problem with litter dust with that litter -- of course, I scooped the litter, didn't pour it,

Our cat used to do that to my Mom.  And my Mom didn't like cats.  She would sit on the top of the couch and mess with her hair.  And she would always make a beeline for Mom when ever she came over. Cats are so funny the way they zero in on people who don't like them and run from the people who do.

I buy the cat litter in the plastic jugs......easier to handle.    I buy "store brand" and Kitty doesn't seem to mind.   I think they are ALL "dusty", tho.  Good luck with your new baby!  di
