@KingstonsMom @Dazlin It's very possible Teaspoon refuses to eat because she's in pain.

@Dazlin I know just how hard this is... I went through this all with My golden ,Lola, a year ago... nothing harder than to see our loved pets so ill..... Your Teaspoon has had a wonderful life with you. Embrace that... hug her tight... and please let her go when she seems ready. You will know when that is. She will tell you.
I used a mobile vet when I knew Lola was ready. Look into that... it is personal... and much less stressful for everyone when they come out to your home. It was accually a beautiful moment...
Hugs and love sent to you and Teaspoon. ~SeaMaiden~

So sad to hear of your health update for Teaspoon.
Sounds as though her lil body is having too hard a time to keep up much more that she's doing right now.
Keep her comfortable and do right by her - don't allow her to suffer in pain - our animal family members deserve our love right up to the very last breath they inhale.
May God bless her and you in this difficult time. I pray she pulls through.

When my Mom and Dad's Maltese stopped eating my dad would go to Wendy's and get chicken nuggets for her. That was the only thing she would eat. Only like three of them but at least she would eat that. He hand-fed her so she would eat them. What we will do for our fur babies.

IF IT SHOULD BE
If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.
Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

@KingstonsMom , yes she gets a little pumpkin...I now spread some her bread...since she's barely eating her food.
I couldn't read all of your post about the end😭, I know it's coming, but honestly she's not there yet. I'll surely know as I have with my other dogs. So far she's getting up and around, no signs of discomfort or pain. She's still alert and wants her rawhide twist, she comes to let me know, but she doesn't finish it...just chew a bit and lick it. I do realize the not wanting to eat may very well be her organs shutting down. I will not let her suffer should I see any further signs, but she is not ready to go now.
Thank you for your sweet heartfelt posts.

@CritterKeeper , funny you mentioned this...my daughter brought home a chicken nugget meal for my grandson, and he didn't eat it (he's teething). I'm going to see if Teaspoon will 🙂 Teaspoon is supposed to be on salt free diet, but at this point, and the tiny amount she's eating, im not too concerned. Thank you!

@Dazlin I'm so sorry about your sweet doggy.
EDITED as I could not delete the whole thing. I misunderstood the OP and my post wasn't helpful.

It is really sad and I hate to say this, but humans and animals will not eat when they cannot breathe. When they have kidney failuire to the point of heart failure, they have no appetite because eating makes them more short of breath and they know the more short of breath, the sooner they will die. They really do have a sixth sense about that kind of thing.
If you ever notice, people in kidney failure lose a lot of weight but are swollen. That is the fluid that is third-spacing.
