What a very sweet story.  Thank you for sharing.

Brown Thrasher, I think.

Wouldn't you know Charlie is a sweet pit bull. That faceHeart They are the most loving dogs we've ever had.I miss them so much!

The Dodo is such a great website.

Those Dodo stories are so heartwarming, @SeaMaiden

@Drythe

Do you think maybe it's a female northern flicker?

The spots on the back are long, rather than round.

What do you think?

Oh, and she has that dark bar just below the throat, too (which isn't visible in this particular angle but can be seen in the Dodo story).

Northern Flicker (female “red-shafted”) | Not only for the birds?

Indeed I do! You are right, Thank You.  Great Northern Flicker, or as we say Flicka.

We used to have them everywhere on our land, rarely see them now - wish I knew why.

Re: Sweet story...wanted to share

I love this and all the good heart-warming stories of pitties and dogs in general.  But especially pitties since they get such a bad rap sometimes.  But look at all those sweet expressions!

We figure our Mosey is part pittie, the sweetest part.

Re: Sweet story...wanted to share

I think it is a female flicker as we have a lot of flickers( related to the wood pecker) here in western Washington state.

 I thought the story was so sweet ....my black lab Buddy is a sweet dog in all ways....no aggression at all to other dogs or people ...but he is a hunter and hurts anything he catches..usually baby animals.   Just his nature.

I found this pit bull type dog SO SWEET to be so loving❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. So different from what  I read about pit bulls in the news.
