LOL!!! We used to have to cocker spaniels. Once you picked up your car keys they were jumping & twirling around going crazy. They loved going for a ride except when they went to the Vet. 

They did the same when I got home from work. They knew I was going swimming. Here they are laying in the hallway watching out the front window for me to come home. LOL!!!
