@Shanus  Such a beautiful eulogy for your beloved, Sadie. Many of us commenting have been in your shoes and feel your pain. Our furry family members provide unconditional love for years; we, in turn, must let them go when their health wanes. That's probably the only thing they ask of us. Your courage today provided Sadie with the opportunity to be free of confusion and pain; to enjoy the next chapter in her life over the Rainbow Bridge. You will meet again with great joy and happiness. Today is difficult and I'm so sorry for the emptiness left in your world. Warm hugs.

@Shanus

As hard as I know it was for you, you did the right thing for sweet Sadie.

IF IT SHOULD BE

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

My heart and my deepest sympathy

goes out to you and your family on

the loss of your beloved Sadie.

I can relate to the intense pain and

heartache that you're dealing with right

now as I've been down that same dark

road many times before and will be again

at some point as I'm Mommy to four

rescued kitties.

Please find solace and comfort in the

fact that Sadie always knew how very

much you loved her,that she was surrounded

by that same love when you sent her

to The Bridge in peace and with dignity

and that she is now running like a puppy

with all of her new friends through the

sunlit meadows of that most blessed place

on the other side of The Bridge.

I'm going to light a memorial candle

for your precious girl on the pet loss

dot com site.

Sending you tons of love filled comfort hugs.
