Quick Tip About Dogs and Onions

I'm sure most of you already know that onions are TOXIC to dogs.  Frankie was eating celery and I put a piece of onion in her face and she started to eat it Smiley Surprised  I really didn't expect her to.  I didn't let her have it.  Even onion powder.  ALL parts.  Raw or cook.  Garlic too.

Merry Chirstmas ladies and to all your much loved fur-babies Smiley Happy

@monicakm   Yes!  For whatever reason they love onions too!  I have to be careful not to give her a bite of meatloaf or other foods containing onion when I fix them.  They'll even try to chew on wild onions growing outside in fields. * They're not supposed to have Grapes or Raisins either.

I used to have a dog who found wild onions growing in the grass outside and would come in smelling like McDonalds.

Didn't know these were toxic to dogs!

@LTT1   In all honesty, my dog has ate them too & lived to bark again lol.  However, I'm sure eating them on a regular basis could build up and really cause harm.

The onion ban applies to all members of the onion family which includes garlic and chives. Foods that contain garlic are easy to overlook as being harmful.
