Re: Question for today, is your pet spoiled?

[ Edited ]

@Bird mama

Why did I already know you would not clip a bird's wings?

I am horrified that some (dog) kennel clubs still encourage tail docking or ear cropping.  And some farmers misguidedly cut off their cow's tails leaving them unable to swish away flies.  And don't get me started on cat's claws.  Why are people so stupid?

Sorry for going off on this tangent, but it does emphasize the fact that you and other folks here are much more aware of animals' needs and then act on those needs.

I cared for a neighbor's canary for two weeks last summer.  His name was Harpo.  He was molting and his person kept apologizing for him.  Again, someone who was not really in tune with his pet.

I've also been lucky enough to save a dove or two, and a pigeon youngster once, but won't go into that now.

Blessings to your and your whole household!

A pet can be both spoiled and well-behaved. I doubt you have any pets.

They certainly can and I agree, the poster must not have any pets if he/she truly believes this.

Re: Question for today, is your pet spoiled?

Birdmama, there is a huge yucca tree about 15 ft tall next door right up against the fence.  It is a sparrow condo.  There are always dozens of birds nesting in that thing.  It's got long dagger leaves and they get way back inside them.

Occasionally an aggressive bird, usually a roadrunner, will run along the top of the cinder block fence and try to get baby birds to eat.  The sparrows all come to the end of their respective leaves and raise a huge ruckus.  My dogs hear this and all rush outside to vanquish the intruder.  They can't actually get the roadrunner but they scare them to death.

i claim these sparrows and my dogs have a symbiotic relationship.  What do you think?

@151949 didn't include the category of "spoiled and well-behaved."  Just because she didn't, doesn't mean she doesn't know it exists.  Or that she doesn't have pets.

It's one of the unfortunate things about forums that if a poster doesn't include every single thing she knows, other posters assume she doesn't know those things.  Wouldn't you want to give her the benefit of the doubt?

NO. Very narrow-minded.

Kachina - I live with two sparrows and one pigeon.  Bet you didn't expect that (lol).

My eldest male sparrow is Poppi - he just turned 10 on June 26th.  My youngest female sparrow is Presto - she turned 2 on June 10th.  My pigeon found me, after he was savagely attacked.  I know he was born sometime in 2009, don't know his date.  He and I celebrate an anniversary of July 8th - he's been with me 6 years.

I have to find a pic of Presto - be right back.

Birdmama, your babies are beautiful.  Bless you for caring for them as they are truly among God's most humble creatures.

Kachina, I love sparrows. Did you know that a group is sparrows is called a tribe? They stay with me through bitter winters. I have a large shrub, evergreen, think it's a yew? I don't know, gets red berries. My neighbor next door says there are a 'hunnert' sparrows in it lol. Once they know you, they claim you.
