My heart goes out to you.  You will miss her.  But you know she's not going to suffer.  That would be awful for you to see and Sarah to go through day and night.

I am very sorry and crying with you. My little girl is 17.5 and I can see the signs already.  I truly know how sad you are feeling and there is nothing any of us can do except wept with you and give you a big hug and be in our prayers.  

I hope you are young enough to in time welcome another fur baby in your care.  It won't replace this fur baby, but will bring joy back into your life and you to them. Your baby is not suffering anymore, but it's still tough to lose.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet little Sarah.

It is truly heart wrenchingly sad to suddenly be without your constant companion after so many years together. 

Just rest assured knowing that you made the most loving decision and some time in the future you'll remember her with a smile.

   One thought that helped me through my 16 year old Jack Russell's last days is they will be crossing the rainbow bridge. You helped Sarah. Take care!

@katie1859 - All of us who have lost beloved pets - family members - know the pain you're going through right now.  And, yes, the house will seem way too quiet without that warm, soft presence.

Only time will help heal your heart.  Just know that you gave Sarah a long, happy life and you made the kindest and toughest decision you could to save her from pain.

Be gentle with yourself and try to remember all those years of love.

@katie1859   ~   My heart aches knowing what today was like for you saying goodbye to Sarah ... she knew she was loved.   Part of being a pet-parent is the sacrifice of letting them go "free."  I lost mine age 17 in July, and only comforted by photos that I have throughout the home.   I pray your pain is lessen as the months go by.
