Hi sweet lady!

Kingston is 80 lbs and is mostly Staffordshire Terrier (60%), 20% American Staffordshire Terrier and 20% Bulldog (we had his DNA tested).

He was 1-2 years when he rescued us and we've been blessed with him in our family for 5 years.

Hip dysplasia is another common medical issue for dogs of his breed/size.

Please know that your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated, as are every positive thought and.prayers from all of my friends here.Heart

@KingstonsMom   I was getting ready to ask you about KIngston's DNA test when you posted about his health issues the other day.  I didn't want to bother you by asking after that.  I'll bet finding out exactly what it was was so interesting!

I hope the increase in pain meds has helped him feel better.  Did it help with the drooling?  I've been praying for him each night since you posted.

Yes, adding another 1/2 of one of his pain meds has stopped the drooling, thank goodness!

It was so hard to think that he was still in pain!

@Kachina624

Yesterday was grocery shopping day for DH, so I had him pick up some fat free vanilla yogurt to try and Kingston had some this AM with his breakfast....he LOVES it!

Thanks for your suggestion!

We'll get him a larger container now and add some fresh fruit to it, he really loves his fruit!

Is he eating his food, and had he been on joint supplements  before this?

Yes, his eating is fine. He had not shown any joint issues until all of a sudden with the limping in one rear leg.

Since he's only 6-7 years old the vet thought it was more likely an injury to that leg rather than arthritis, but a week later he started limping in both rear legs and having trouble jumping to the couch, beds.

His regular vet was unable to examine him, no one besides us can 'handle' him, due to his mistreatment and distrust of humans, we have to give him his shots, etc.

That's why we have to wait for a specialist, he will have to be sedated for diagnosis.

Don't get me wrong, Kingston loves people, as long as they don't try to 'do anything' to him.

His  burns required extensive treatment and to debride the burned skin for quite a while, which I'm sure was very painful, even with meds.

He's never shown aggression to other animals, he wants to play, but we don't let him, just in case.

At this point, we're most comfortable having an expert examine him for an accurate diagnosis, than try to self-treat.

Re: Prayers for Kingston please

@KingstonsMom   I hope they'll let you or your husband go inside with him at least while they sedate him.  Our Vet and the University of TN aren't letting people in with their pets now due to Covid.  My Vet did for a while but has gone back to curbside service.

Good point, which we already asked the specialist about, our regular vet is mobile so he 'sees' (literally, LOL!) Kingston in our home.

The specialist said that we would come in with him (masked of course) and once he's sedated, we'll wait in his room for a diagnosis and to discuss course(s) of action once his diagnostics are done.

I haven't mentioned it before now, but about a month ago Kingston started having trouble with limping in one of his rear legs.

His vet put him on pain medication which did help for a while (assuming arthritis), but gradually his limpness extended to both rear legs, he looks like he's lost muscle tone in his rear end and his total demeanor has changed, as far as he acts like he's in pain and is sleeping much more than usual.

He can't jump up to his couch, the vehicles for his walks at the nature reserve or to enjoy my waterbed when I get out of it.

We have the name of a specialist in this field who we will call tomorrow, to find out what's going on and will spare no expense to help him if possible.

He deserves it, after all he went through before we adopted him, being doused in flammable liquids and set on fire, before animal control found him wandering the streets.

Please.....say a prayer for him, he deserves it.

I'll post any updates when known.

Thank you all......

Sending many prayers for your beloved Kingston. He is so blessed to have loving parents like you!!
