Hi all!
Have any of you ever use phenobarbital for cats to prevent anxiety for car travel?
In the past I've used acepromazine which was "ok" ... But, my sister had a fairly long car trip with her cats and the vet prescribed phenobarbital. It worked wonderfully! The cats basically slept the entire 5 hour ride. This was perfect because by the time they got to their destination they were still a little drowsy yet able to eat, drink and use the litter boxes.
I would appreciate your experience or thoughts regarding his medications for cat car ride traveling. TIA

I moved 1000 miles about twelve years ago. I asked the vet for something for my two cats. I don't remember the details, but it was basically no. My kitties meowed for a bit here and there along the ride, but they were okay. My mother bought them roomy canvas carriers, that I lined with towels. I think I'd try what your sister used.
