Tomorrow (August 1) it will be one year since we lost our beloved keeshond, Anika.  She was a beautiful dog who was trained as a certified therapy dog.  Her personality led itself to therapy in a variety of venues including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, private homes, to name just a few.  Everywhere she went she was "oohed and aahed" because of her beauty and gentle personality and demeanor.  She always looked forward to her therapy adventures.

Anika was a wonderful dog at home as well.  She loved rides in the car and going on vacations, especially to a place with water, she loved to be outdoors on our patio  (always looking for the shady spot), she loved to be where we were (and Alfie), and we enjoyed her to the fullest.

It's been 12 months since we lost her and we miss her so much.  Her last days were so difficult and it's hard to get those images out of my head.  So, I choose to imagine her romping and running in the fields of the Rainbows Bridge sharing her therapy skills with her other furry friends.  I know she's happy and healthy and free of all pain.

Anika and Alfie (cairn terrier)  were inseparable.  Where you saw one you soon saw the other even though there was 8 years difference in their ages.  Alfie grieved Anika for many weeks when she died and I think she still misses her too.

Thank you so much for the beautiful poem for Anika.  It took me several tries to get through it as I was in tears from the beginning.  I miss her so much ... it just hurts terribly.

Millions of kisses and hugs and love ...   and the memories linger.
