Re: Our Beautiful Darcy Has Crossed The Bridge

I share your pain @SXMGirl at losing your Darcy. She deserved a wonderful mama like you and was fortunate to share your life and love. It never gets easier as we lose our amazing creatures but it is worth the pain to have the love, comfort and joy they bring to us. I send you wishes of peace and hope that memories of those special things about Darcy ease the pain of losing her.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Re: Our Beautiful Darcy Has Crossed The Bridge

@Skididdy, so sorry for your loss of Pebbles.  The year is not starting out how we planned.

I want to again thank everyone for your kind thoughts.  Today was my first day without my Darcy.  We are all trying to cope without her here.  Happy, our foster failure, went to doggie daycare by herself today.  She loved Darcy and keeps looking for her, as do the cats, especially Bud, who just moved in one day.

Like all of you have done, we get through this together and one day at a time.  Thanks so much.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Re: Our Beautiful Darcy Has Crossed The Bridge

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your

beloved Darcy. I can relate to the terrible

pain and heartache that you're feeling as

I have been down that same dark road

many times before (most recently last

August when I sent my beautiful kitty

Tabitha to The Bridge) and will be again

at some point as I'm currently mommy

to four rescued kitties.

Please find a sense of solace in the fact

that Darcy always knew how very much

she was loved, that she was surrounded by

that same love when you sent her to

The Bridge in peace and with dignity, and

that she is now running ike a puppy with

all of her new friends thru the sunlit

meadows of that most blessed place.

God bless your kind heart for giving an

older dog a forever home. Many years

ago I rescued two 12 year old kitties

(who were also brothers) that nobody

else wanted. One lived to be 18 and

the other joined his brother at The Bridge

one month shy of his 19th birthday.

Sending you tons of healing prayers

and comfort hugs.

@SXMGirl

LAST NIGHT

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peek.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly, as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour your coffee.
You were thinking of the many times your hand reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore,
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."

You looked so very tired and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everday.
To tell you with such certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over....I smile and watch you yawning
and say, "good night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to meet you and we'll stand side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there's so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out....then come home to be with me.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, @SXMGirl.  I know what you are going through.  It is never easy.

Darcy will be there to greet you when you cross over to thank you for giving her a great life

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, your right to say it

So sorry you lost Darcy. It is  so hard to lose a pet. They stay in your heart forever. I lost a Yorkie in May and soon after my other dog has kidney disease. So I know it is  so sad . Some people do not understand how you can grieve for a loving pet but that is what love does especially having them for so many years.

We are heartbroken.  We have had Darcy for 10 years and she probably was 7 or 8 when we got her.  Always a joy and never a problem.  Truly the best dog that I have ever had. Everyone loved her, including all of our other pets.  I know that she received a wonderful reception at the Bridge, but it is certainly going to be hard on the rest of us.

@SXMGirl  So sorry for your loss. Rainbow Bridge is paved with all our beloved pets. Your Darcy will never be alone...still and always loved.
