@RinaRina  What a beautiful dog!  I love how he is looking up into your eyes while you are taking the picture.  You can tell he loves and trusts you already.

I hope you can get him healed up soon!

@ tends2dogs,

That's not my dog.  I couldn't download a pic of my dog, but I was able to download a pic of the sore ("hotspot") on someone else's dog.  LOL!

Aww, poor baby.  I had my dog to the vet today for something that's been going on with his front paw, underneath up in between his toes.  I straight up asked her if it was a hot spot that he had and what a hot spot actually is because I've never seen one.  His was not, it was something different.

What did your vet say, our dog has the same thing??  Did they give him anything or what is the outcome?

@deb5555  The vet shaved the hair down in there and observed that the skin has thickened and there was some inflamation - I'm sure from all the licking the dog does.  There was nothing oozing nor did she think there was a burr or anything embedded in those thickened areas.  She gave him an antibiotic injection and a steroid injection in the exam room and also sent me home with a 7 day course of an oral antibiotic plus a topical to apply a couple of times a day for a week or so.  This all happened last week, Thursday.  Today, 5 days later, it's not completely gone, but it's greatly improved.

Re: Oh No! My new dog has a "hotspot"

I have had this problem with my dogs for several years. I first got some bitter apple spray for the dog [the vet gave me] so he will not scratch. the hot spot and make it even worse. and the vet gave  them shots and it would clear up very quickly. It was always the heat that brought these horrible gross things never knew it could be from foods? They always mostly got it on there hind legs or paws. I hope your dog feels better soon.
