I'm lucky not to have bears nearby. The only bears I want to see are at the zoo.

@Happiness Is Inside JOB: Treadwell filmed his exploits and after his death a movie, "Grizzly Man", was made. Try renting it. He was a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

So are my Gummy Bears, they're much sweeter!

@darkhomespun We live near a state park with 373 acres of woods and have black bear.
Though we haven't seen one there has been evidence that they have visited during the night. We too are careful about leaving any trash bins or any types of food for them. As others have said they love bird feeders and lots of people have those and it tends to draw them. The most majestic bear is the grizzly and we got to see several (from a distance) in Denali, one of the most special moments in my life.

We have black bears where I live, but I have never seen one...and don't care to.

We had a black bear come out of the woods across from our home last July
in the 90 degree heat and topple our trash can. The can was empty but he
was interested in it. We were out on the porch and saw it. We have always
kept our trash can in the garage but of course it was trash day and it was not
brought in right away trash pick up.
Another incident was during the summer of another year when I was taking
my dog out later in the evening and I saw a mother bear and a small cub
passing by our property. I quick grabbed my dog and took her in. Luckily
I saw them first but what a scary night that was.

Around here people have hot tubs and bears love those. Hot tub owners buy bear-proof covers for their tubs and even with those the bears rip them off to get to the hot water. There's nothing like a dip in the hot water in the middle of winter.

No grizzlies, but black bears. Not a fan. They get into the garbage and you can't put out the bird feeders until the bears are done with hyperphagia and have settled down for their winter naps.
I have no problems with the deer, foxes, polecats, wild turkeys, turkey buzzards, rabbits, voles, groundhogs, snakes, etc., but I really do not like bears around the property.

Yes, I do. Really. Right now we have to look around before allowing Shadow to go out.
Two days ago, I had Popa Bear next to my passengar head light. We're sure their den is about 500 yards off the lower edge of our property.
