Well, gee, if the OP was taken to a barber to have her head shaved, I bet she'd be rather unhappy, to say the least!

From what she's written, OP doesn't know much about her cat and its needs .... it's sad.

Be careful with the Furminator--it's not recommended for all breeds of cats (ck their website for list)  or cats with matted fur and in fact my vet said she would not recommend it at all.  Cats have very loose, thin skin that can easily be cut with these razor blade devices and it's also supposed to be painful for the cat when used.  My vet suggested using a good quality greyhound type comb to gently tease out mats and remove loose fur from the undercoat.

FWIW:  I am not an idiot when it comes to the well being of my cat.  No need to leture, inform and/or educate me.
