@eddyandme I'm with you in height and weight and my baby 2 dogs ago was the most beautiful fawn colored Great Dane, no cropped tail and no cropped ears. I loved that boy. He was tall enough to put his paws on top of the refrigerator and look over and weighted in at 175 pounds. He was the most gentle lovable boy. He also liked to sit on the couch, butt in the seat and legs on the floor just like a person.
I could easily walk him as he was quite content to stay by my side, though he sometimes gently led me in his chosen direction. Will miss him always.
It was funny. Old women (of which I am now one) and kids loved to pet and even hug him, but men were afraid of him. Suited me just fine.

I think the bigger they are, the gentler they are - they have nothing to prove, their size says it all!!! Everyone loves Brody - the Amazon girl who delivers sometime has even stopped up when in the area just to visit him - he's the only dog on her route who doesn't bark at her so she loves him!
So very sorry for the loss of your precious dane -they always have a piece of our heart..... @KathyM23 .

it makes me so angry that they include GSDs in th3 herding group that I refuse to even watch dog shows. When did anyone see or see a picture of a GSD actually herding anything? Other real herding dogs knock their socks off actually herding and get little recognition.
AKC judges favor GSDs that are bred to be deformed with unnaturally low hips which cause hip dysplasia as they age. Judges love them and these dogs typically win Best of Group in the herding group, despite the fact that at this stage they're pretty much a man-made WORKING DOG and should be in that group.
My pet peeve.
