My 14 y/o K-9 has been diagnosed with bad knees.   Was hoping it was just arthritis in the hips, which she has also

She's normal in every other way, it's heartbreaking to see her slowly lose her mobility.   I doubt I'll opt for surgery.   I've never had a dog die from old age.    I'm 64, so the 2 of us "old ladies" will make it best we can together as long as we can.

She's a wonderful dog, black lab named Kizzi.    Trust me, she wore those knees out in much happier days.   She loved to run.

Hey, quick thought. I've seen those little rigs that look like a pair of training wheels for dogs with no back legs, or to help dogs with back problems. If you check into it, do searches, you might find the rig just her size, to help her out.  I hope you can find something that will help. Good luck and best wishes to you two gals!

My Baby Boy Springer is 14 1/2 and he has arthritis in his back legs, I give him meloxicam and glucosamin and condrotin to help him out.  My Sunny was a big runner too.  Its so hard to watch the decline.  I just try to keep him happy and comfortable. I want him to be with me as long as he is happy and able to be.  Love him to pieces!

My heart goes out to you and Kizzi!

@software

Love to te both of you.

FYI, you may look into acupuncture.  My precious Jade, and English Lab, had cancer, but acupuncture greatly helped her for many months. I had a vet specializing in this come to the house, so if Kizzi's having a rough time getting around they do make house calls and will also be able to suggest foods that will help. I'm sure your vet can recommend someone.

@software - it's hard to watch our pets go downhill.  Going through the same thing with my over 16 year old pharaoh hound.  Her back legs are giving out on her.  She's been going downhill for months, but I'm starting to see some of those "signs" that things are getting worse.  Last night she made a mess in her crate which she has never done before.  I'll pray for your baby too.  They are blessings in our lives.

I'm sorry to see that about your furbaby.

I'm so shocked at how fast Kizzi went downhill.

She was fine all winter, but in the past 2 months, she's nearly immobile.

My late husband and I were owned by 2 black labs.    I lost my husband 4-1/2 years ago, lost my male lab last November.    It's going to be hard to let Kizzi go.  But I'm not going to let her suffer.
