Re: My dog passed away this weekend

@luvmybeetle

You're doing the most selfless, kind thing you can do for your fur love, but I know your heart is breaking with having to make this decision.Heart

A poem of comfort for you too:

IF IT SHOULD BE

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

@cookinfreak  I am so sorry about your sweet dog.  I lost my Callie cat last year, she was 17.  I understand how you feel.  Please take comfort that your dog knows how much you loved him and he loved you too.  He had a good life with you.  He is at Rainbow Bridge and playing with all his animal friends.  I believe that we will all see our pets again in heaven.  Take care my friend.

@cookinfreak, I am so sorry--please accept my condolences.  It is very difficult to lose them, especially when it is unexpected.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I think we here have all been thru it a few times or more, but it doesn't ever make it any easier. He'll always be in your heart.

My sympathies for your loss.  Our pets are part of our family and when  a pet passes it's just as though we lost our most closest family member.  I am feeling the pain in your heart as I have to put down my cat this afternoon.  God Bless

I’m so sorry to the both of you and your fur babies. God bless you @luvmybeetle @cookinfreak

I am sorry for the loss of your beloved family member. It is so hard to give them up when the time comes. It is amazing the joy they bring while we have them.

Re: My dog passed away this weekend

@cookinfreak,

I'm so very sorry about the loss of your pup.  Forgive me if this has been posted, but it's one of the most endearing poems about the loss of a dog I've ever read -- and I think this poem by Jim Willis in his book "Pieces of my Heart" says it best about the loss of all our furry friends. I hope it provides some measure of comfort:

   So this is where we part, My Friend,
   and you'll run on, around the bend,
   gone from sight, but not from mind,
   new pleasures there you'll surely find.

   I will go on, I'll find the strength,
   life measures quality, not its length.
   One long embrace before you leave,
   share one last look, before I grieve.

   There are others, that much is true,
   but they be they, and they aren't you.
   And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
   will remember well all you've taught.

   Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
   the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
   And as you journey to your final rest,
   take with you this...I loved you best.
