My dog passed away this weekend

I got up Sunday morning and found him in one of his favorite spots to lay down. He hadn't been sick and was eating and drinking all day Sat. I think his little heart just gave out. He was a chihuahua/yorkie mix. My house is so lonely now. He was 13 years old, so I had him for a long time. My heart is so broken.

I'm so sorry.  Pets are our family.  Sounds like your baby passed peacefully and loved.

My condolences to you during this sad time.   There are no words to ease what you are feeling, except "he went peacefully."  Let that be a consolation to at least ease your heart.

I wish pets could be with us forever.  My heart aches with yours as I know the bond between these dear companions

I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope it brings you a lot of comfort to know he just went to sleep, and didn’t suffer through some long, difficult illness.  Sending a hug your way.

@cookinfreak I am sorry to hear this.

13 years is a long life but also that dreaded age that we lost ours several years ago too.

@cookinfreak

My deepest condolences for your loss.Heart

I found comfort in this poem the last time I lost a fur love, I hope it may help you too in your time of grief.

LAST NIGHT

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peek.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly, as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour your coffee.
You were thinking of the many times your hand reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore,
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."

You looked so very tired and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everday.
To tell you with such certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over....I smile and watch you yawning
and say, "good night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to meet you and we'll stand side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there's so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out....then come home to be with me
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
