Re: My dog Hunter was put asleep today

I'm so sorry to hear you've lost your buddy, Hunter.  Your experience is one all devoted pet owners must suffer, and it's up there among the hardest things you'll ever have to do.  It gets better with time; you'll have your wonderful memories if Hunter to sustain you.

I'm crushed for you and your family.  It's hard enough to deal with the pain and loss, but to see your sweet Jenny mourn too is heartbreaking.

My thoughts are with you.

Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we love.

When there is deep grief, there was deep love.

Re: My dog Hunter was put asleep today

@Libra2, it is so hard to do these things.  My Lab Lily will be 12 this year.  I dread the thought, having been through this before.

Your sweet Jennie will probably look for Hunter.  I had two Labs and that is what happened with us.

Bless you for rescuing your pets.  Knowing that they had a good life with you is surely a solace.  You did the right thing so Hunter wouldn’t suffer but it doesn’t make it easier.  In time, his memories will warm your heart again.

Blessings to you, your family and Jennie❤️.  LM

So sorry--have done this twice--never easy but it takes more love to know when to let go than allowing them to suffer--arent't they a joy when we have them around?  Thank you for being such a good owner--Peace

@Libra2

May this poem be of some comfort to you.Heart

LAST NIGHT

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peek.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly, as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour your coffee.
You were thinking of the many times your hand reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore,
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."

You looked so very tired and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everday.
To tell you with such certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over....I smile and watch you yawning
and say, "good night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to meet you and we'll stand side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there's so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out....then come home to be with me.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
