My cat has liver disease and twice went into liver failure. In each instance, sge was hospitalized for a few days, put on IV fluids and started on a med called ursodiol. She also was on injectable prednisolone to calm her liver's inflammation while in the hospital.
She's on ursodiol every day anf also the supplement milk thistle at a dose determined by the vet. Low fat, high quality protein, limited ingredient wet food has helped a lot. No fish!!!!
I hope this helps. It's a difficult diagnosis and often mimcs IBD, pancreatitis or something called triad syndrome or triaditis, in which the inflammation jumps from small intestine to liver to pancreas.
How did your vet diagnose liver failure? How much effort was put into proper treatment (on the vet's part). It took TLC plus everything listed above to get our girl eating and feeling better again. If you have doubts, get a second opinion.

@SXMGirl wrote:@jagk I am so sorry. My first dog, many years ago, had liver failure and I remember changing her diet drastically. No one had mentioned euthanasia to me, but with a change in diet, she lived a long life. I hope you find something that will help. Sending prayers.
Ita! Check her food! Just changed my dog's food..and I would also try natural remedies! Prayers sent as well!

I am extremely familiar with what @Sammycat1
is going thru with her beloved cat Fay Wray
as she has been documenting everything on her
Schmoo thread.I'd like to suggest that you
read it (jump forwards to the more recent
posts) as you might find it helpful.
I also want you to know that my heart and
my prayers are with you and your precious
girl.

@beastielovemost kindly gave you info that I have written on the "That Schmoo..." thread under Pet Lovers about my cat with liver failure but she confused which one of my cats has it. To read more about it, go back to posts from May of last year--our girl Frankie made it through her 2nd bout with liver failure then.
The newer posts are instead about our other kitty Fay Wray, who is currently battling kidney failure. Different illness with different treatment, of course.
I wanted to make sure you found the correct information. Prayers sent up for your dear kitty now--I hope she is doing better.
