@SeaMaiden...I'm so sorry for your loss. 25 years is certainly a lengthy relationship! I had one of my cats from a kitten until almost 22 years of age. He too was quite the character! Hugs to you.

@SeaMaiden - I just came in and saw this. I'm so sorry. It's like losing a young adult son who was mischievous and happy-go-lucky. Some may think we're nuts for feeling like this, but only true pet owners will understand. He had a long and happy life with you, and he knew he was loved. (((HUGS)))

I am so sorry for your loss, @SeaMaiden.  I don't think you ever mentioned having a bird, a cockatiel.  Twenty five years is such a gift to have and to love a pet, but it is never long enough.  I know this will be a big void to fill in your heart and your home.

Time will heal you, but it will take awhile.  Again, so sorry.
