Message from NC Wildlife Resources Commission

"Can I live under your house and use it as a den while I raise my kits," the adorable red fox asks.

After a swell of contemplation, you reply "No, I don't think that's the best idea."

"I'm going to do it anyway," the fox replies.

Taken aback, you look that cute little fox in the eye (from an appropriate distance) and state: "No, I'm going to place a spotlight on the ground, pointed at the potential den entrance. I'm also going to play AM radio, probably annoying local sports talk, at a high volume in the immediate area. Finally, I'm going to install a motion-activated sprinkler near the potential den entrance and I'm going to throw small objects in your direction to assert that your presence will not be tolerated."

The fox, recognizing that you're serious, runs away while yelling "Pah-Pah-Pah-Pah-PahPa-POW!"

Apparently, that's what the fox says.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Re: Message from NC Wildlife Resources Commission

I have fox on my property, they make a den in the woods but I wouldn't let them do that under my house so the commission suggestions aren't mean, avoiding interaction is best.for wild animals & people. A fox is protective & a constant hunting machine for their kits, killing chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits & more..I know to stay away.

Re: Message from NC Wildlife Resources Commission

No way would I want a fox under my house or deck.  Under the house is protected with wire mesh weep holes and the deck has wooden protection.  Got to love me a fox, get those squirrels please and thank you.
