Meet Narwhal, The Unicorn Puppy!

A rescue puppy with a second tail growing out of his head has been rescued from the streets in Missouri.

The ten-week-old dog has been taken in by Mac's Mission – a rescue operation that specializes in helping dogs with special needs – after being found wandering the streets and given the name Narwhal, because the protuberance resembles a tusk.

'He's literally the most magical thing you've ever seen, and so happy,' Rochelle Steffen, founder of the Missouri-based rescue center, told the PA news agency.

Oh ,what a sweetie, i assume they will remove the tail,  how sad that people let animals  just roam the streets.

@goldensrbestWhy?  If it is not bothering the pup?  What concerned me is the lump it is growing out of.  But X-rays say no skeleton in there.  as Narwhal grows the tail may wither and fall off by itself but if it doesn't cause a problem why not just leave it?

Re: Meet Narwhal, The Unicorn Puppy!

The dog is adorable, but there's nothing about that growth that's "cute" or "charming." And calling the puppy a "unicorn" is ridiculous.

That growth should be removed, if only to prevent kids (and, sadly, adults) from cosidering it an object to be played with or tugged at.

And pity that poor dog, if he ever gets loose and finds himself the object of kids' curiosity--and cruelty.

Yes, sadly, that's probably the right thing to do.   My first instinct is to leave it alone, as long as it's not compromising his health in any way, but, to your point, it could cause unnecessary complications down the road, thanks to thoughtless humans.
