I am so sorry for your baby and you but I must share this story. I hate to but here goes. My Sisters Sheltie developed a tumor in her leg and she was treated at Tufts Veterinary School in Grafton Ma. They amputated her leg and after much expense, and anguish, my sister was told that they lost the amputated leg so were not able to definitely diagnose her Cancer. They had nothing left to biopsy. She died shortly after. This was in 2006, so a long time ago. My sister was so heartbroken and felt guilty and she has never got another dog. Now one of my Shelties developed a tumor in her leg and my vet said maybe a few months or if I did chemo maybe a year. She was to have 3 rounds of chemo and I stopped after 2 because she was so sick from it. She lived 24 months and was happy and did well until the day that she died. Prayers to you. I am sure Tufts has improved but it was not cheap either.

so sorry for your loss and also your sister's loss.  This bone cancer thing is devastating.   I shall be vigilant so thank you for warning me.  I can't imagine how your poor sister must feel.  And, am so glad your Sheltie lived a joyous two years due to your very wise decisions.  Right now, it's like a bad dream and hoping I awake from....have to check out what can be done and hope I have the strength to do what's best for Jade.  Thank you.

So sorry. I am a member of a golden retriever forum. There are several members with dogs who had their legs amounted and are doing great. The problem with your dog is in her lung.  Sometimes once it has spread they won't due the surgury.

I am so sorry to hear about your fur baby.  What an agonizing time for you.  I will pray for you and your little one that everything will turn out well,  You are doing the right thing for your precious little pup.  Tufts has a great reputation, and you can take comfort you are doing all you can.

All my best, and hugs to you and your fur baby!

Sending best wishes to you and your furbaby. We faced a cancer diagnosis with our beloved Chloe 2 1/2 weeks ago. She suddenly stopped eating, started barfing, shaking and panting.  Tests showed cancer in her pancreas and liver. We were devastated. We came to the very painful decision that it would be best to send her to heaven. She gave us 13 wonderful years and we didn't want her to suffer. So I know exactly how you feel. I hope your furbaby can be made well with little suffering. Our Chloe was too ill to put her through treatment. Good luck.

I'm so sorry for your diagnosis. That's a tough word to hear.  You are in my prayers.  I also wanted to echo what you said about listening to your instincts when it comes to your animals. I wont go inyo my story, but will just say that you know your pet best, trust your inner voice. Vets have the invaluable medical training but you can aid & guide in your pet's medical care. It's  important yo have a vet who will listen to you & take the time to discuss things.

Stand up for your pets, dont be afraid or intimidated, most vets will appreciate your first hand knowledge of your pet.

Best & warmest wishes for a complete recovery for Jade. She is lucky to have you!

Hoping they wiill...the leg tumor was so small only  the radiologist picked up on it and the lung tumor is minute.  I'm praying, if not surgery on her lung, then perhaps chemo shots will irradicate it.  Trying to get it done ASAP, I understand this is a very fast moving cancer.  Thank you for your advice  I'm hoping against hope, but there's always a chabce.
