This is the response I got from my email to them

I checked Loose's histopath report and your email and I agree with your vet,  the treatment of choice for malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors,  Schwannoma, neurofibrosarcoma or hemangiopericytoma is wide complete  excision. If this cannot be achieved, post surgical radiation is  beneficial.

What does your vet think about injections of a specific chemo drug (5-FU)
into the site of the tumor, something that only takes 4-5 treatments, and is
considerably cheaper.

Re: MY FURRYBABY HAS CANCER UPDATE!

I also found a PDF they sent me regarding the study that was done using the cancer drug. I don't think a PDF can be attached here.

@CinNC

Thanx.  I'm copying the info you gave me and shall report to Dr. Lew.  I'm also gonna see what I can pull up online about this.  Thank you sooo much!  They are saying that Jade's got bone cancer 'cause leg tumors spread to the lungs and there's two teeny nodules in the lungs.  As far as lung cancer, no successful treatments, less removing a lung.  The only way they can test the leg tumor to see if it's benign or not is to remove it.  So, we've got to meet with a surgeon Monday.  The leg tumor is so tiny and it's placement makes it impossible to reach unless thru surgery.  Of course, I'm PRAYING for the leg tumor to be benign.  When then remove the tumor, they will also be able to better ascertain what the cause of her intense pain is:  Tufts is baffled - supppsedly the best in the country!  I'm baffled!  Since the size of the tumor doesn't correlate to the intensity of pain, I'm praying for a miracle of miracles, that she's got a cracked bone or something and it is not bone cancer.  The nodules in the lung are so minute, praying perhaps, probiotics and chinese herbs may abate this problem.  When I got a herniated disk, it was five years of being diagnosed with sciatica before the nurse at work got me an appointment with aspecialist at Fairlawn Rehab who immediately diagnosed it correctly and dealt with it.  So, maybe my "positive thinking" ain't so far off - I HOPE.  And, by removing he leg tumor if it is cancerous, and resolving whatever is causing the intense pain in her leg will at least solve the immediate problem.  I've asked Jade's doc at Tufts to check for any clinicals that may be in theworks and perhaps Jade can be accepted.  Right now there's nothing.  Good thing though, although they don't usually accept older dogs in their studies, her tests resulted as those of a much younger dog, which will help out getting accepted if something comes up.  Sorry to babble on.  And again, thank you for the chemo info you provided to me.Heart

Re: MY FURRYBABY HAS CANCER UPDATE!

One of my dogs had bone cancer in her leg, she had to have surgery to detect if it had spread. It had not but her leg had to be amputated and she was 12 at the time. She lived a full life to age 17.

Good luck to you.

Re: MY FURRYBABY HAS CANCER UPDATE!

You have my deepest empathy.  I shared my Siberian Husky Akasha's fight with the ladies on this forum six and a half years ago.  I wouldn't have made it with out their love and support. I pray that everything is going well with your furbaby.

I've not been able to read your whole thread, but Akasha went into remission for a while so maybe your furbaby will, too. That is what I will pray for in your case. C;-)

@codeqn

I'm soooo sorry for your loss.  They know when they're not well and your loving presence throughout this battle sustained her:  sadly, though she's no longer physically with you, she is always by your side lovingly watching over you.  Thank you for your prayers for Jade - it means sooo much to me.Heart
