Two of my goldens had lipomas removed. It's fairly common in the breed. One of my goldens had several small ones on her back and we just left them alone. But the other two had big lipomas so we had them removed. Simple procedure with an incision to get to the fatty lump then it's removed and stitched up.

A friend has a dog who had one removed and it went well. This was within the last year and her dog is doing well.

No need to remove a lipoma. They are very common and not dangerous.

Some do need to be removed b/c they are too big and can disrupt a dog's life. Some lipomas are fast-growing and can have roots which can infiltrate muscles and bones which might cause pain and make a dog miserable. Large lipomas can also cause problems with a dog's walking ability, too. It's important to keep an eye on lipomas and have them looked at by a vet to make sure that they are not something else.

I'd change dog foods . Very common and mostly cosmetic.  If its on the top of the back  from middle to tail , most Vets will not remove as those areas are difficult to heal and skin is taught

I've had a pooch that had one removed and my daughter has had to have two removed from one of hers. All of them did very well. For any doubts I think you should go with how confident you are with your vet. Good luck!

I had old girl who had several but due to her age and other medical problems we just left them.  They were on her chest and she did not seem have any pain.

Hope you find the right solution.  Kisses to furbaby.
