our goldendoodle did the same right at the beginning of the pandemic . Vet was unable to operate for 2 months ,so we medicated him with pain meds and limited walks .

When we went back the vet said he was walking better and it had healed .

We have watched him ever since and he walks fine and loves his walks

One of my dogs had this surgery about 20 years ago.  My regular Vet as well as the Specialty Vet who did the surgery told me that she would probably eventually need to have her other knee done.  She recovered well and did fine for the rest of her life--never needed to have the other one done.
