@NickNack

I'm so glad to hear that Ava did so well with your in-home sitter, I know you were worried about going, but so glad you did, we all need a break at times!

I'm sure that having your sitter in your home was much more comforting to Ava than other scenarios would have been.

And Henry seems to just go with the flow, LOL!

Hope you had a great time on your trip!

@KingstonsMom    For some reason, this feels like a graduation.  Congrats to the whole family.  You've been through a lot.

@Kachina624

Thank you sweet lady, it really does feel like that, LOL!

Today he's doing much better using his doggie doors than yesterday, thank goodness.

During this 6 months I bought a t-shirt that says, "My agenda for the day....let dog in, let dog out, let dog in, let dog out.....", LOL!

And he's SO exited!!

He had his last follow-up on his surgeries yesterday and his surgeon feels like he's ready to resume his 'normal' activities in moderation at first.

He was so funny when we unblocked his doggy doors (one from the DR to our enclosed back deck, the other from the deck leading to the back yard).

It's taking a bit of reminding him how to use them after 6 months.

He keeps standing there like they're still closed, waiting for someone to let him in or out, LOL!

He loves being able to do his thing in the yard without being on a lead anymore!

In moderation, he gets his walks back, our beds & couches back and he and Dad have already planned a camping/geocaching trip in about a week and a half!

YIPPEE! It was a long, restrictive 6 months for all of us and very expensive, but he was SO worth it to us.Heart

Best news I've read today!!  Yeah Kingston!!!

Congrats @KingstonsMom .  We just went through a similar situation with a Doxie with a back injury.  Had to carry her all the time for over 3 months.  Plus she was incontinent of urine and we used pee pads because she had bladder infections.  Then we did the going potty on the leash, hanging onto her so she could only move slowly and so on.  She hated every second of dependence and bolted (as best she could) if we turned our backs. Six months later she is ambulatory with some limitations,  but she IS able to walk.  But doesn't it feel good when your efforts pay off and there is improvement?  Just to still have them and see some improvement is worth everything.  I am happy for you. (Your descriptions made me laugh!)

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.
