@RollTide2008   I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's incredibly difficult to have to say goodbye to a beloved pet. It's especially difficult when you're not expecting it. I went through a similar experience a few years ago. I brought our 8 year old kitty to the vet because something was a little off. She just wasn't herself. Unfortunately she had cancer and had to be put down the next day. It's always a devastating loss. Fur babies are our beloveds. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We know exactly what you are going through....our cat, Hazel, passed away July 17, 2023 from kidney failure within a month.  She was a healthy 12 year old calico....no health issues.  Then, I noticed in mid-June that she had lost weight in the area behind her rib cage but in front of her hip area.  We still miss her so much as next month will be a year.  We keep thinking there's just something in the food they're consuming.  My niece had her dog put down due to kidney failure.  Too many of our 4 legged friends are getting this horrible disease. 

Also, just wondering...I haven't seen any recent posts from "We Rescue Cats"......she sent me a heartfelt message along with a drawing of an angel holding a calico cat when our Hazel passed.....

@RollTide2008 you have my heartfelt sympathy, especially as this is your first pet.

You gave Birdseed (love the name) a wonderful, loving home. Although her life will be cut far too short, you gave her the best quality of life.

You've noted she "is declining rapidly" and are doing the right and kindst thing for her by letting her go.

Of course you love and will miss her but you saved her life. May your happy memories sustain you and in time, give you comfort in your grief.

It is indeed very difficult when our precious fur babies are suffering and we must say goodbye. It is never easy but your Birdseed knows you love her because you have chosen to put her needs and quality of life before your own grief...and that is Love @RollTide2008. Bless you.
