Re: It's Time to Say Goodbye

I am so sorry that Birdseed must leave you to.  When a kitty is sick, it is the ultimate kindness to release them from their pain.  Yes, it breaks your heart to say goodbye, but please remember someday you will be together again.

I'm so SO sorry for Birdseed and you.  It's so hard and the grief we feel for our sick and dying pets is SO real.  If she's interested in eating, shower her with people food if that's something she has shown interest in.  I don't have a cat so I don't know if they're like dogs when it comes to people food or not.  There was a YT vid I saw a few years ago of a man who had  to put his dog to sleep the next day.  He spent the last day taking him for icecream, Starbucks pup cup, McDonald's cheeseburger, etc.

I took my cat, Birdseed, to the vet last week expecting to be given an antibiotic for a UTI.  Instead we got the devastating news she's in the end stage of kidney failure.  The vet estimated she had about 3% functioning kidney tissue left and that it's likely a congential condition since she's only 3.  She's declining rapidly.  Last night she was cold and wouldn't eat.  We made an appointment with the mobile vet to come tomorrow.  She seemed to rally a little this morning, but I think it's time.

I've never had a pet before and I didn't think I'd be this emotional about a cat.  But she's my cat and I love her.  I hope Birdseed has been happy with us.

Same thing hsppened to me on Monday. He has chronic kidney disease but has been doing well going on 6 yrs. Thought he also might have acid reflux or teeth issues but vet found a mass in his chin and is pretty sure its cancer. His kidney function is still pretty good. I've been very upset since he has been a great kitty for 15 yrs. I feel your pain. So hard when our furbabies are sick and there's nothing you can do to maje it better. I'm sure your kitty loves you and has a short but happy life.

Re: It's Time to Say Goodbye

I have had cats as members of my family my whole life. Having to say good-bye is always heartbreaking and never easy, even when we know it is the best thing for the kitty. Prayers you will look to the future and know you gave her the love and care she deserved.
