Re: It's International Cat Day

@1Professor Snow White is a beauty. Looking at those golden eyes is mesmerizing. I've always had a fondness for black cats.

There's a bit of magic in black cats. Well, at least, they have that role in many books and movies. It's why I hate to see them free roaming. Sadly, their fictional roles, can make it dangerous for them.

The first picture is our Penny, named because she loves all shiny objects, especially coins.

The bottom picture is our 'Grinder' named as such because as a kitten he would grind his teeth when he ate.

Both were strays that appeared on our deck looking for a forever home.....and found it! 20181102_162153.jpg20190601_111246.jpg

Re: It's International Cat Day

My boy Bill died recently.  He was an orange tabby just like the picture.

Many of you followed the journey of myself and Bill (what a pair he and I were).

The Vet said, "Take him home, make him comfortable.  His kidneys are shot and his pancreas is so inflamed he only has a few weeks to live".  This Vet knows his stuff.  He's been a Vet for 35 or more years.  He retired at the end of last December.

Where was I?  Been awhile since I've been on here.  Those of you long-timers are familiar with Annabelle (me).

Anyway, I took my boy home and for the first maybe 2 or so days fed him boiled human chicken breast.  Then I had an epiphany (otherwise known as the other side of my pea brain).

It said, "Look Annabelle, why not give him the food he loves and will eat it".  I'd been giving him special prescription food up until then.

Sooooo....(are you still here...if you can follow me..worry about your brain).  OK, off track again....

I went to the store, got lots Sheba...started feeding him that.  He gobbled it up.

But the one thing that kept my boy Bill going for an EXTRA 4 years (yes that isn't a type)...was that my friend (the Vet's assistant) came every day except Sunday and hydrated him.  It became routine.  He'd lay on her lap and I swear he smiled.  What?  You don't think a cat can smile...You didn't know Bill...wonder boy!

Anyway, my list of all of the thanks I'm thankful would fill up this board.  Just the fact that I'm sitting here typing is a miracle.  No detail, you old-timers (like myself) know my story.

Anyway, I'm not quite ready for another cat.  Bill was around 15-16 years old.  He was an adult when I adopted him.

Everyone that came around would ask if I'd adopt them.  Ha!  Bill lived the life of luxury.  He deserved that and more.

Anyway, take care all of you.  I mainly got on here because I'm going over to maybe "Community".  I need an answer to my question.  I can't stay on long because my neck hurts sitting up on a hard chair for too long.

See you there!

Re: It's International Cat Day

Two years ago we lost our almost 16 hear old calico Cricket. We were devasted. Loved her so much. A few days later we went to the shelter and found our new ginger cat, 3 months old, a rescue from storms down in Louisiana. We searched for a Cajun name and decided on Roux. He is now two and still active but no longer destroying our lamps. How can anyone not love cats. They are special and know it. 💗

Everyones kitties are beautiful.  I have 3 and one feral I feed.  All of my cats just showed up one day and I never could find an owner, love all of them.

I don't know how to post a picture, but I have 2 tabby cats, Sophie and Gianna.  Both are rescues from the shelter.  Sophie is 14 and Gianna is 6.  Happy International Cat Day to all our feline friends!  Meow!

Our Frankie rules our home with the strength of a lioness. Although she has several chronic conditions that have nearly stolen her life, she keeps on keeping on.

We're so delighted that this former shelter cat that survived a hoarder's home picked us. Here she is digging William Shatner as Captain Kirk and taking a break from her "neighborhood watch" responsibilities:

IMG_0342.jpegThe black kitty is Char who I found at the tender age of 4 weeks in my backyard. She's almost 5 now. The tiger kitty is Oliver who I also found in my back yard. He's 3 years old.

@Annabellethecat66

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill--I remember him well.  You might recall posting about my cat Schmoo, who with Bill seemed like two brothers from another mother.  Our boys cats were and always will be great.

Here's a photo of my Schmoo to take you back:

@Sammycat1  Yes!  Of course I remember.  Did you get another cat?  What are you up to?  I loved reading your posts.
